"A South Korean company developed a coin-size laser video projector module that can fit into portable gadgets such as mobile phones and digital cameras. Iljin Display [on] Thursday demonstrated various prototypes of mini-size projectors, which use its Single LCD Panel technology. Using the technology, users can project photos and video images on the wall from the built-in projector, making a seven-inch, full-color screen."
A few hours ago on the Sundance Channel I watched a documentary by co-director Garrett Scott whose film "Operation: Dreamland" was made while he was embedded with an army division in Fallujah, Iraq.
The film made me think, again, about all the lives that are at risk while the USA holds staunch to its position to bring "freedom" -- the lives of those who serve in the military, the lives of civilians, and the lives of those who are committed to recording the truth of events in a war zone..... A few hours ago my thoughts turned to the commendable truth-seeking and bravery of Garrett Scott. Sadly, this person, who was dedicated to recording truth, died on March 2, 2006. (He died in California and his death by drowning was declared an accident.)
This is my attempt to honor Garrett Scott.
Article/obituary about Garrett Scott in the San Diago Union-Tribune, March 10, 2006:
Excerpt:
"[ Garrett Scott ]... initially envisioned a career in academia. Then he realized he wanted to write about the people and issues that moved him – the economic, political and environmental forces that shape lives and events.... Ultimately, he realized he could best communicate by documentary film."

My image of Garrett Scott is based on a screen shot of a frame from a video clip introduction to "Operation: Dreamland" that appears on the Sundance Channel web site.
The swedish church has destroyed many rune stones over the years. This is sad, since it is a part of the swedish history.
The square is a piece of opal. The substance is highly reactive to heat, so we had to embed it in a tube of glass and then make a marble around it. There is a dot of air in there next to the chip. Its very hard to encase something in glass without getting air bubbles. The stuff on the right is a swirl of custom mixed glass with some glittery glass ("unobtainium") and an exotic blue.
I don't know what this is. Just looked down, and there it was. I thought: that's a circle I could square.

The Great Heath 10KM 2013 Road Race and Fun Run was held at The Great Heath, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, Ireland on Sunday 20th January 2013 at 11:00. This leads on from two very successful previous runnings of the event by The Heath GAA club and the local community. The race starts and finishes at The Heath GAA club (just adjacent to the M8 Motorway). This event has grown in popularity and it was again very well organised. The very cold winter weather of the past few days made sure that running conditions were about right. There was a tough breeze in places on the course which followed a left-handed loop course into the Laois countryside. The success of this year's race is reflected in the 600 finishers that finished the race. This is well up on the 450 participants from the 2012 event. Well done to everyone involved.
