Uma particularidade de Espinho é a planta retangular. As ruas não têm nome, mas, como em Nova York, um número.

Een bijzonderheid in Espinho is het rechthoekige stratenplan. De straten hebben geen naam maar net als in New York een nummer.

A special feature in Espinho is the rectangular street plan. The streets have no name, but just like in New York a number.

Eine Besonderheit in Espinho ist der rechteckige Straßenplan. Die Straßen haben keinen Namen, aber genau wie in New York eine Nummer.

Une particularité d'Espinho est le plan de rue rectangulaire. Les rues n'ont pas de nom, mais tout comme à New York un numéro.

Ariundle is an ancient Atlantic Oakwood forest near Strontian. It's a damp landscape where mosses and lichens proliferate. Glacial granite boulders are deeply embedded in soft mounds of vibrantly green mosses. Lichens and ferns cling and sprout from twisted and gnarled oak trees, which were traditionally pollarded to produce more wood, some for pit props, some for charcoal production to help with smelting lead from the nearby mines.

A superb lp mini break with Quornflake, Mart and Phill in Llanberis. The slate quarry there is insanely massive with far too much to shoot in one evening. The day was spent reccying all the nooks and crannies which in itself was a mammoth task. When night fell we headed to our first spot and got cracking.

It was was great to get out with you all chaps and quality to finally meet Mart.

I think we will return here as this really doesn't do the location any justice and there is so much left to shoot including the most insane but hard to access spot I've ever seen. Here's to next time.

Usual lens capped double exposure from portrait outside the tunnel to Phill within. Thanks to Mart and Phil for their help in realising this one.

Badlands National Park, Stronghold Unit

South Dakota

The Stronghold Unit of Badlands National Park is embedded in the Pine Ridge Sioux Reservation and is jointly run by the National Park Service and the Sioux Tribe.

The photo was taken on Thanksgiving morning in 2017. It was a wonderful sunrise and I have made several attempts over the years to re-edit this photo to do the scene justice - as I remember it. This is my latest attempt.

I think the lights on the horizon near the right border are at Kyle, South Dakota.

Pholiota squarrosa, commonly known as the shaggy scalycap, the shaggy Pholiota, or the scaly Pholiota, is a species of mushroom in the family Strophariaceae. Common in North America and Europe, it is often an opportunistic parasite, and has a wide range of hosts among deciduous trees, although it can also infect conifers. It can also live as a saprobe, deriving nutrients from decomposing wood. The mushroom is typically found growing in clusters at the base of trees and stumps. Both the cap and the stem are covered in small, pointed scales that are pointed downward and backward. The crowded gills are yellowish, then later rust-brown. The mushroom has an odor that, depending on the author, has been described as resembling garlic, lemon, radish, onion, or skunk. It has a strong taste, resembling radishes. Once thought to be edible, it is now considered and known to be poisonous, especially if consumed in combination with alcohol. The mushroom contains unique chemicals thought to help it infect plants by neutralizing defensive responses employed by them. The very similar P. squarrosoides differs in having a paler cap that is sticky between the scales, and smaller spores.
