Students in ENGS 85: Embedded Systems competed in timed trials with their computer-controlled cars. Like the vast number of everyday products controlled by small embedded computers, the cars involve the three basic components of all such embedded systems: 1) sensors to measure the physical environment, 2) actuators to produce the system behavior, and 3) a microcontroller that processes the sensor data and controls the actuators.

My tires (Specialized Armadillos) are awesome. They're a little heavy, but haven't alowed anything to puncture my inner tubes for years, now. Like three years; you can see how worn down they are. In these photos, you can see a huge chunk of something that tried to drive its way in, but got stopped by the inner kevlar belting. Who knows how long it was in there. I could probably ride for another year on this mangled tire, but I think I'm due for a new pair.
