Titanium (Ti) is # 22 on the Periodic Table of Elements. Elemental titanium is a silvery-gray metal. Native titanium is an extremely rare mineral. Titanium metal is produced from ore minerals such as ilmenite and rutile. Ilmenite is FeTiO3, iron titanium oxide. It is a high-temperature mineral that occurs in most igneous rocks in minor quantities. Ilmenite is mined from nelsonite, an intrusive igneous rock associated with anorthosite complexes. Ilmenite is also concentrated in some placer deposits ("black sands"). Rutile is TiO2, titanium oxide. It is common in igneous rocks as small grains, but also occurs in placer deposits, such as beach sands. Top rutile producers are placer sand deposits in Australia and South Africa. Some Florida sands are also rich in titanium.

Titanium is alloyed with other elements to produce strong, lightweight materials with high melting points - these are used in industry, the military (for airplanes), and space programs.

Twenty-six isotopes of titanium are known. Five occur naturally. Titanium-48 is the most common variety. The other isotopes each make up between 5 and 10% of Ti atoms: titanium-46, titanium-47, titanium-49, and titanium-50.

Silicon (Si) is # 14 on the Periodic Table of Elements. It forms by late-stage nuclear fusion in certain types of stars. Elemental silicon is a silvery-gray semi-metal. It is the # 2 most common element in Earth's crust (oxygen is # 1) and is abundant in many minerals (e.g., quartz) and rocks (e.g., granite). The most common silicon-bearing mineral is quartz, SiO2. Quartz and all other silicate minerals have the same fundamental atomic structure - the silica tetrahedron, which consists of one small silicon atoms surrounded by four large oxygen atoms in the shape of a triangle-base pyramid.

Twenty-three isotopes of silicon are known - five of them occur naturally. Silicon-28 is the most common. Silicon-29 and silicon-30 occur in small amounts. Silicon-31 and silicon-32 are unstable, radioactive isotopes that occur in trace amounts only.

For this photo I had actually used a bright white lantern we had and I decided to test it out by swirling it in front of the camera. I thought it had looked somewhat odd at first as it was just a huge white blur. But, I then took it to Photoshop and played with the Saturation a bit, and I thought that it had a very cool effect once I changed the colour to neon Pink.

Joel brought is his Honda Element that had recieved a just a bulb HID upgrade for the H4 bulbs. He was unhappy with the poor performance and the fact that it would blind people so he decided to step it up a notch and went with a stage 3 Morimoto Mini D2S square retrofit. He decided on 35w ballasts and 5000k 3Five bulbs. The car looks very much OEM with much better performing headlights.
