One of the wiriest breadboards I've ever assembled, this is another step along the way in the Secret Project Involving Blinky LEDs.
The large glassy-looking components in the middle there are LEDs with three light emitters each - red, green, and blue. They can display a large range of colors by shining the three elements at different relative brightnesses.
These LEDs look a bit weird because I've wrapped each of them in a tiny scrap of paper towel and covered them with little Fresnel lenses. This is to diffuse them - ordinarily, they're completely clear and the color elements don't mix very well. The next picture along shows how this ends up looking.
All three LED boards connected to the supply voltage bus. Each board does PWM and there's a magic frequency that creates a noticeable (audible + visible) beat-note. Adding some capacitance helps. Should have been on the PCBs, but it might have worked without it.

The display on my 1960s-vintage Hewlett Packard 132A dual-beam oscilloscope is dead, and I suspect the problem is the CRT tube. But before I can search for a replacement, I had to get the part number. And to get the part number, I had to poke around inside.
Now I know, so If you happen to have a spare HP 5083-0722 CRT tube on hand, please give me a shout.
It looks to me like Sony puts a fairly thin, almost like an aftermarket type screen protector on the RX100 screens and the edges of the protector are exposed. I am curious if anyone has experienced any chips or damage to the edges of the screen protector?

They arrived today from Russia!
All twelve are in great condition considering that they were made in mid 1980 - they were packaged very well, foam covering some kind of milk-thing-box from Russia which contained more foam wrapping the actual tubes. The tubes are 2 inches high from bottom of the glass to the top, and the characters are 2cm high. Tubes from tubes-store.com/ who still have loads of this type (IN-14) left.
Once I've got some free time I'll turn these into a clock, but first I have to figure out how to generate 170V DC...
