A peek into the computer case...

The motherboard with components...

A capacitor is a passive two-terminal electrical component that stores potential energy in an electric field. The effect of a capacitor is known as capacitance. While some capacitance exists between any two electrical conductors in proximity in a circuit, a capacitor is a component designed to add capacitance to a circuit. The capacitor was originally known as a condenser or condensator

Obsolete electronics for Crazy Tuesday

Peter collected such things for many years from TV sets and the like, and used them to create models etc. This is actually part of a Spitfire he tried to recreate - I always look at it and wonder when he is going to finish it!!

Macro Mondays ~Inside Electronics

A Stylophone, a musical device that was popular in the late 60's and early 70's often as a Christmas present for children. It briefly found fame however when David Bowie used one in his "Space Oddity" recording.

Electromagnetic coils on an old graphics card.

From the basic electronic components I always found the coil the hardest to understand. In addition to the invisible current you suddenly also have this invisible magnetic force (flux). But it's a beautiful component making it a nice subject for this week's theme.

Thanks for all your comments and faves, they are really appreciated. Happy Macro Monday!

Macro Mondays 'inside electronics' theme.

I thought I would have to miss this week as I really didn't think I had anything interesting to fit the theme. I took this shot just after the theme was announced and almost discarded it, but this afternoon had another look and decided it was worth processing and submitting to the group, and at least I haven't missed a week.

This section of my old mobile measures approx 2.5 x 1.7 cm.

Took a small step away from the camera as of late... seems to be a reoccurring trend of mine in the summer months of Malibu gloom...I do think the fog gets into my brain.... but the winds are changing and the shutter seems to be calling to me again from the dusty bag of electronics that blocks my shoe ridden stairway to the dungeon. So is life I suppose, My dreams and desires crash in the surf, rolling in the deep you might say. and left in the glittery morning shoreline, is a faint imprint of my recent sandy castles.... in place of it's once rigid towers of polished glass and shells.. just blobs of beach pimples remain... but still I build. I'm a builder with many unfinished pieces, perhaps some day they will equal something yet unseen and worthy of such a life spend hunting in the dark. Something bigger than the single fractured piece itself. Bigger than just a 2 dimensional image or moving picture to sound. After all, limbs come and go. Twiggly branches twist and break in the trials of weather that befall us. One might say our convictions are the trunk that carry the burden of such calamities. And our determination the fuel to passions like water to the root of our very soul. Me, I'm collecting my fallen twigs for a personal bonfire. Wish me luck.

NOW, In celebration of the eastern sierra fall color extravaganza about to take place just beyond the eastern sierra gateway. I present an image I took one stormy clouded day in may 2015 of a well known and often photographed bristle cone pine along the Methuselah trail. I was quite stricken with elevation sickness at the time of this snap and missed the sunset that day, but had a few head pounding hours to snap handheld under the brooding clouds before the pounding sent me running for lower ground. I'm one of the unfortunate few who can only withstand higher elevations for several days before succumbing to agonizing head aches. For that reason I'm often at the mercy of the almighty hourglass. I credit Tylenol for this image.... and the maker of clouds himself. See ya soon.
