We came across an interesting oddity from the realm of consumer electronics: a fake seven-segment LED display. Just for fun, we made our own version too.

The final solders were made, batteries inserted, and the power button switched to on... and the leds flashed in sequence. Success.

Since a couple of people have asked, here is how I am mounting RFM12B transceivers to stripboard. The best method I've found so far is to solder short lengths of wire to the 8 contacts required on the RFM12B first and then fit it to the stripboard. Soldering the wire to the module is very fiddly.

Touch panels hardwired to pots and switches, 3 LFOs, one for each oscillator and feedback.
Low / band pass resonant filter with external voltage control input, self oscillates at full resonance.
Panel is covered in (warm) leatherette, nice!
uC prototyping blocks, aka "Dev Blocks." These are small single component boards that are ready to plug into a breadboard.

An arduino driving the little sparkfun LCDs, with a simple bouncing ball screensaver. The ball changes colours as it moves!
