Today, I've got a floral tribute for You.
When I passed this bush in the summer (in fact I was just on my way back to the car) suddenly Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave started to sing inside of my head. They still do it, every time I am watching this photograph. This was the decisive factor for the titel and the main reason, why I finally stopped there.

Als ich im Sommer an diesem Busch vorbei kam (eigentlich war ich auf dem Weg zurück zum Auto) fingen plötzlich Kylie Minogue und Nick Cave in meinem Kopf an zu singen. Sie tun dies bis heute, sobald ich das Foto betrachte. Das war der ausschlaggebende Punkt für den Titel und dafür, dass ich überhaupt stehen geblieben bin.

An old tree towers high above the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle. He doesn't look quite as fresh anymore. But on the contrary. Only a small part of the branches is still green.
On the one hand, I find that very regrettable, because a healthy, strong tree is of course a much nicer sight.
On the other hand, precisely because it looks that way, this pine is more interesting from a photographic point of view. For me it has more the appearance of a sculpture than that of a plant.
This photo was taken 2 years ago and fell into my "hands" again today (actually only into my eyes). Since I'm not going to travel this summer, I spontaneously came up with the idea of digging up a few unpublished pictures from earlier trips and refreshing the memories with them.
Let's see what else comes up.
Hoch oben über den weltbekannten Schloss Neuschwanstein tront ein alter Baum. Er sieht nicht mehr ganz so frisch aus. Ganz im Gegenteil. Nur noch ein kleiner Teil der Äste ist noch grün.
Auf der einen Seite finde ich das sehr bedauerlich, denn ein gesunder kräftiger Baum ist natürlich ein viel schönerer Anblick.
Auf der anderen Seite ist diese Kiefer, gerade weil sie so aussieht, aus fotografischer Sicht interessanter. Sie hat für mich eher das Erscheinung einer Skulptur, als die einer Pflanze.
Dieses Foto ist bereits vor 2 Jahren entstanden und mir heute wieder in die "Hände" gefallen (eigentlich ja nur in die Augen). Dabei ist mir spontan die Idee gekommen, da ich diesen Sommer nicht verreise, ein paar unveröffentlichte Bilder früherer Reisen nochmal auszugraben und damit die Erinnerungen aufzufrischen.
Mal sehen, was dabei noch so auftaucht.

viele Märchen- oder Sagengestalten mussten erst zum Ende des Regenbogens reisen, um den Schatz am Fuß des Regenbogens zu finden. Auch wenn wir den Fuß des Regenbogens niemals erreichen, so hat der Lichtbogen seine Faszination nicht verloren.
Aber wie entsteht ein Regenbogen.
Das Sonnenlicht wird von Regentropfen gebrochen und reflektiert. Er keinen festen Ort aber eine feste Ausrichtung. Er ist immer an der der Sonne genau entgegengesetzten Seite des Himmels in einem Winkelabstand von 42° um den Sonnengegenpunkt zu sehen. Da dieser Sonnengegenpunkt bei hochstehender Sonne hinter dem Horizont liegt, ist es unmöglich, mittags einen Regenbogen zu beobachten. Je höher die Sonne am Himmel steht, desto flacher ist der Regenbogen, bei tiefstehender Abendsonne wölbt er sich entsprechend hoch.
Warum aber beträgt dieser Winkel immer 42°? Ein Lichtstrahl, der in einen Wassertropfen eintritt, wird von der Grenzschicht zwischen Wasser und Luft reflektiert und verläßt den Tropfen wieder in einem bestimmten Winkel zu seiner ursprünglichen Einfallsrichtung. Natürlich fällt in Wirklichkeit immer ein ganzes Bündel Lichtstrahlen in einen Tropfen ein, und da jeder einzelne Strahl in einem anderen Winkel auf die Tropfenoberfläche trifft, sind die Austrittswinkel ebenfalls ganz unterschiedlich.
Dass dennoch nur die 42° Strahlen von uns als Regenbogen wahrgenommen werden, hängt damit zusammen, daß eine größere Ablenkung aus physikalischen Gründen nicht möglich ist. Alle Lichtstrahlen, die eigentlich noch weiter als diese 42° gebrochen werden müßten, konzentrieren sich an diesem Grenzwert und bilden dadurch den für uns sichtbaren Regenbogen. Die Lichtstrahlen mit kleineren Auslenkwinkeln verursachen lediglich eine leichte Aufhellung des Himmels innerhalb des Bogens.
Da das Sonnenlicht aus Strahlen verschiedener Wellenlänge aufgebaut ist, und sich die Brechung für jede Wellenlänge etwas unterscheidet, wird das Licht nicht nur abgelenkt sondern auch in seine Farbanteile zerlegt. Blaues Licht wird stärker gebrochen als rotes und liegt dadurch beim Austritt aus dem Tropfen näher am ursprünglichen Strahl. Im Regenbogen sehen wir daher den blauvioletten Streifen am weitesten innen, gefolgt von grün, gelb und ganz außen rot.

But how does a rainbow come about?
The sunlight is refracted and reflected by raindrops. It is not a fixed location but a fixed orientation. Here we were lucky - this staircase was actually blocked, but a very friendly employee locked us up and so we could only take photographs for a short time, but mother souls' little things ... it is just great how many different stairs, shapes and colors are available - real works of art...
Was macht man an einem trüben Sonntag? Man geht mit einem Freund in die Stadt, um Architekturaufnahmen zu fotografieren.
Hier hatten wir Glück - diese Treppe war eigentlich gesperrt, aber eine sehr freundliche Angestellte sperrte uns auf und so konnten wir zwar nur kurz, aber mutterseelenallein fotografieren...es einfach toll wie viele unterschiedliche Treppen, Formen und Farben es gibt - echte Kunstwerke.
Die mit Eis und Eisblumen bedeckten Steine im Wasser haben mich so sehr fasziniert das ich gar nicht mehr merkte wie kalt es eigentlich war ;-)

Die Villa Pantschoulidzeff wurde 1850 bis 1854 nach Plänen des Wiener Ringstraßenarchitekten Theophil von Hansen errichtet. Sie liegt an wunderbarer Lage oberhalb von Traunkirchen am Traunsee und ist seit vielen Jahren unbewohnt. Ihr Garten hat mich schon immer durch seinen morbiden Charme fasziniert. Eigentlich ist es Privatbesitz und eingezäunt, doch wenn man will findet man ein unauffälliges, aber viel genutztes Loch in der Hecke. Wie durch ein Wunder ist dieser Ort bis heute von jeglichem Vandalismus verschont geblieben und präsentiert sich als Glücksfall für Fotografen.
The Villa Pantschoulidzeff was built between 1850 and 1854 according to plans by the Viennese Ringstrasse architect Theophil von Hansen. It is situated in a wonderful location above Traunkirchen am Traunsee and is uninhabited for many years. Its garden has always fascinated me with its morbid charm. It is actually private property and fenced in, but if you want you can find an inconspicuous but much used hole in the hedge. Miraculously, this place has been spared from any vandalism until today and presents itself as a stroke of luck for photographers.

um die vielen Fragen zu beantworten, wollte ich eigentlich Rafis viel schöneres Bild vom MHM (Militärhistorischen Museum der Bundeswehr ) einstellen, ist mir aber nicht gelungen, deshalb dieses. Jetzt ist Rafi so nett und stellt es in den Text.
Die Spitze des Keils verweist auf die Stelle an der in der Nacht vom 13. Februar 1945 die ersten Bomben der Alliierten Luftangriffe einschlugen.
Daniel Libeskind ist prägend für die Architekturgeschichte des 21. Jahrhunderts. Mit seinem Entwurf für den Neubau des Militärhistorischen Museums der Bundeswehr kann die deutsche Museumslandschaft auf einen weiteren symbolträchtigen Bau schauen, den der Architekt selbst als bislang reinsten Libeskindbau bezeichnet.
Der keilförmige, asymmetrische Neubau durchdringt den massiven, klassisch gegliederten Altbau. Eine transparente Fassade aus Metalllamellen überlagert den historischen Baukörper. Der Neubau stellt einen Einschnitt, eine Störung in das Gebäude dar und verändert nicht nur die äußere Gestalt, sondern auch das innere Raumgefüge grundlegend. Seine Räume folgen ihrer Funktion und stehen in klarem Kontrast zu dem starren, horizontal ausgerichteten Säulenraster des Altbaus. Immer wieder durchbricht der Neubau den Altbau und eröffnet dem Besucher auf allen Ebenen überraschende, räumliche Verschränkungen und Ausblicke.

Und? Wieviele sind es? Ich meine die Erbsen, nicht die Eiskristalle ;-) Da wollen wir mal nicht kleinlich sein ... "Erbsen zählen" ist eine Redensart und bedeutet im Englischen "to nitpick", also kleinlich, geizig oder pingelig sein.
Die Erbsen sind in der Redensart das Sinnbild des Kleinen und wenig Wertvollen. Wer also ein Erbsenzähler ist, widmet seine Zeit einer Sache, die dies eigentlich nicht wert ist. Hier ist jedenfalls "alles im grünen Bereich", noch so eine Redewendung – und die wird im Englischen so übersetzt: Everything’s rosy in the garden. ;-) Und wie wird es in all den unzähligen Sprachen dieser Welt ausgedrückt? Na, dann wollen wir mal nicht so sein, jedem das Seine und wie er es mag ... Ich jedenfalls mag Erbsen und auch besonders, wie unterschiedlich sie sind, wenn man genau hinsieht ;-)

Macro Monday: #Wire

A type of wire I had never seen (or heard of) before until I stumbled upon it at an arts and crafts store a few days ago. Not at all what I had in mind for the "Wire" theme (that was some Nessie-style wire monster), but since I was at that store anyway, I thought I'd check out the types of wires they sell for DIY jewellery and other crafts, and I found this: bouillon wire. It looked interesting enough, and when, back at home, I took a look through the viewfinder, I noticed that, when you stretch the bouillon wire a little (which, as I learned later, you aren't even supposed to do), it looks like a double helix; and when you stretch it some more, it looks like a concertina - and that also reminded me of an amplitude or a sound wave. But actually it isn't meant to be stretched at all, but it's used to cover the end pieces of the bead cord used in a DIY necklace or bracelet. The bouillon wire fortifies and protects the cord from friction and breakage caused by the fastener / clasp.
Captured with the make-up mirror as background; why the make-up mirror? I thought it might create some nicely distorted reflections, but it didn't - not within that small frame. I used two clamps to fixate / place the slightly stretched bouillon wire in front of the mirror - btw. not even same-sized clamps (we are talking about a 10,5 cm vs. 4,5 cm long clamp), so I balanced the shorter clamp on the box I keep my extension tubes in (you know, the "any box will do" tripod). Processed entirely in Luminar 3 with two different Luminar 3 layers in Photoshop: the first layer for general processing, and for the second Luminar layer I had used a Luminar preset: "Big Screen" > "Bad Neighborhood", blended in with the first layer at 52 percent opacity.
A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!
Eigentlich wollte ich für das "Wire"-Thema eine Art Nessie-Draht- oder -Kabelmonster basteln. Im Bastelgeschäft stolperte ich dann aber über diesen hübschen "Bouillon"-Draht, von dem ich noch nie zuvor gehört hatte. Ein Päckchen mit vier längeren Stücken dieses gedrechselten, flachen Silberdrahts war gar nicht teuer, also nahm ich es mit, obwohl ich immer noch eine wenig auf Nessie fixiert war. Ein Blick durch den Sucher meiner Kamera am heimischen Wohnzimmertisch (andere Bezeichnung für UPF: Ungemein Professionelles Fotostudio) offenbarte dann die Besonderheit dieses Drahtes: Zieht man ihn leicht auseinander, sieht er wie eine Doppelhelix aus; zieht man etwas mehr, hat man eine Art Ziehharmonika-Effekt. Für beides ist er nicht gemacht, denn eigentlich verstärkt man mit dem Bouillon-Draht die Endstücken einer Perlenschnur, um sie vor Beschädigungen oder
Abrieb durch den Verschluss zu schützen. Aber für's Foto... warum nicht ;-)

Actually, I just wanted to quickly buy a new shirt, because it was just too hot on this day and so I found in the H&M store this gem. ☻

GER: Dieses wunderschöne weiße Treppenhaus versteckt sich in einem Geschäftshaus in einer Einkaufspassage im Leipziger Stadtteil Mitte und unweit der S-Bahn Station Mitte. Eigentlich wollte ich nur auf die Schnelle ein neues Shirt kaufen, weil es einfach zu warm war an diesen Tag und so fand ich im H&M Store dieses Schmuckstück. ☻

Taken last night for the Smile on Saturday theme "Flora in Monotone". This resilient little flower still blooms on my balcony, even though it's almost December and it's also getting colder now, with night temperatures approaching 0 °C, and day temperatures not much higher. About two weeks ago, when I actually wanted to photograph a colourful sunset from my balcony, I noticed that the illuminated windows in the house across the street would make a very interesting-looking bokeh background for the yellow flower. Since then I've taken numerous images of this humble little beauty (and her sister), handheld and at higher ISO first (and all of them blurry), then with a tripod crammed in between the balcony table (well, yes, I could move it away) and the balcony parapet, still a fairly shaky affair (and last night it had also been windy); I'd taken the first images with the Lumix LX100, then the next ones with my Oly (with different lenses – this most recent image was taken with the obvious choice, the 60mm macro lens), and I will also still try to get a few nice shots with the Ricoh. When you can't get out to shoot, you've got to find something around your home to fulfill the photoghraphic yearning ;) So you'll see more of this balcony beauty in the future.
Processed in DXO PhotoLab 4, where I've also applied two film simulations from the DXO FilmPack, first the Fuji Reala 100, then the DXO Cross Processed simulation of a Fuji Superior 200 film, because the latter adds a beautiful turquoise-and-hints-of-blue monotone look to any image. I've then further tweaked a few settings in Viveza (Brightness at +7, Contrast at -3) and in Color Efex (preset "Foliage Bump"), and finally, in ON1, added a Glow filter ("Diffuse Glow") and an HDR filter ("Subtle").
Btw could somebody help me with the ID? I'm guessing buttercup, but I'm not quite sure; it's a very sturdy flower with yellow blossoms and lots of herbaceous (you could also call it "weedy") looking green leaves. Thank you :)

Für das HSoS-Thema "Flora in Monotone". Gestern Abend auf meinem Balkon fotografiert. Das robuste (eigentlich gelbe) Blümchen hält sich auch bei nun dem Nullpunkt entgegensinkenden Temperaturen und einem unangenehmen Wind tapfer (und könnte mir evtl. jemand bei der Bestimmung aushelfen? Wie gesagt, das Blümchen ist gelb und hat viele, recht [un-]krautig aussehende grüne Blätter; ich tippe auf Hahnenfuß, bin mir aber nicht sicher; Danke schon einmal!).
Seit zwei Wochen fotografiere ich diese unscheinbare Balkonschönheit und auch seine ebenso hübsche Schwester immer mal wieder zur blauen Stunde (und gestern Abend war es sogar bereits dunkel). Eigentlich hatte ich seinerzeit bloß einen besonders schönen Sonnenuntergang vom Balkon fotografiert, bei der Gelegenheit aber entdeckt, dass die erleuchteten Fenster im Haus gegenüber einen schönen Bokeh-Hintergrund für's Blümchen abgeben könnten.
Die ersten Fotos entstanden aus der Hand und bei höherem ISO (alle verwackelt), jetzt nehme ich immer das Stativ, was aber trotzdem eine wackelige Angelegenheit ist, weil ich es immer zwischen Balkonbrüstung und Balkontisch quetschen muss (und ja, den Tisch könnte man auch wegschieben), aber ich habe jetzt schon einige recht hübsche Bilder dieser bescheidenen Balkonschönheit gemacht, mal mit der Lumix LX100, dann mit der Oly und verschiedenen Objektiven (dieses Bild habe ich mit der naheliegenden Objektivwahl, dem 60mm Makro, gemacht - nicht 100%ig scharf, es war gestern ziemlich windig), demnächst versuche ich es auch mal mit der Ricoh. Wenn man schon nur selten zu Fotospaziergängen raus kann, muss man sich seine Motive eben in der Nähe suchen und mit unterschiedlichem fotografischen Werkzeug für die nötige Abwechlsung sorgen ;)
Entwickelt in DXO PhotoLab 4. Nach regulären Entwicklungsanpassungen wie ClearView, Smart Lightning, Objektivschärfe und anschließendem Entrauschen in DeepPrime habe ich noch zwei Presets aus dem DXO FilmPack angewendet, zuerst eine Fuji-Reala-100-Simulation, dann eine "DXO Cross entwickelter Film" Simulation eines Fuji Superia 200, der jedes Bild in sehr angenehmes Türkis-Blau taucht. Anschließend noch kleine Anpassungen in Viveza (Helligkeit +7, Kontrast -3) und Color Efex (Preset "Foliage Bump"), dann noch etwas Leuchten ("Diffuse") und dezentes ("Subtle") HDR in ON1.

Waldorf salad, probably. The brainiest salad out there? Maybe for a melting skull that is pondering about The Meaning of Life... It certainly was a surgical challenge to extract a whole, undamaged kernel from those particularly small and hard Brandenburgian walnuts. There are many methods for opening and shelling walnuts and keep the nutmeat intact, and I tried something new after several failed (but delicious and healthy – walnuts are brain food, aren't they?) attempts: I soaked a few nuts in water overnight (to soften the shell) and then used the nutcracker from the top, not along the shelling line like I usually do – for the shelling line I used a knife. Sounds like quite the massacre, I know, but it worked :) As for the ice "cube"... Sorry, but I couldn't resist. I had to buy icecube trays online for this theme anyway, because I don't use ice in beverages (and therefore I didn't have an icecube tray at hand). And when I saw those skull-shaped trays, I knew I had to get them. I also ordered more traditional cube- and orb-shaped ones, so now I'm properly equipped when it comes to all things ice ;)
What I had in mind, of course, was a crystal-clear, perfectly-skulpted skull, and a perfectly placed walnut. At least I got one nicely placed brainy walnut (or nutty brain?) and a fairly recognisable skull out of four attempts. And boy, these ice skulls melt fast (and they move while doing so! Creepy...). I have images where you can see more of the walnut, but by the time more of that was visible, the skull was molten almost beyond recognition. So I chose the image where you can only see a little bit of the "walbrain" emerging from the skull, still covered by a thin layer of ice, and I hope that's enough "In Ice" to qualify for the theme. A rather charming small detail is the tiny (walnut) "hornlet" that appeared on the skull's forehead first – oh dear, who knows whose skull this once was... ;)

Nüsse, ganz besonders Walnüsse, sind ja sehr gesund, Nervennahrung pur, besonders gut für die kleinen grauen Zellen – und ein halber Walnusskern sieht auch noch so aus. Aber eigentlich fing alles ganz harmlos an: Ich wollte was für's Thema machen, da ich aber nie Eiswürfel verwende, hatte ich auch keine entsprechende Form im Haus. Und mangels anderer Beschaffungsmöglichkeiten blieb mir nichts anderes übrig, als mich beim großen Piranha-Fluss umzusehen, wo mir prompt diese Schädelformen angezeigt wurden. Dabei hatte ich doch bloß "Eiswürfelform" eingegeben. Ob das was mit einer Suchanfrage für ein anderes MM-Thema ("Spiky") zu tun haben könnte? Und andere Leute bekommen lustige Tierformen angezeigt, wenn sie nach "Eiswürfelform" suchen? Egal, ich konnte natürlich nicht widerstehen, habe aber Alibi-halber auch noch Würfel- und Kugelformen mitbestellt. Denn wer weiß, was mir demnächst sonst noch auf die harmloseste Suchanfrage vorgeschlagen wird...
Was mir hier natürlich vorschwebte, war ein perfekt geformter, kristallklarer Schädel mit einem darin perfekt platzierten Gehirn, aber das wollte mir als Eiswürfel-Neuling noch nicht so recht gelingen. Immerhin hatte ich am Ende ein Exemplar, bei dem nicht nur der Schädel noch als solcher zu erkennen war, sondern auch noch ein Stück der Walnusshälfte sich in Relation zur Schädelschmelze rechtzeitig aus selbigem herauszuschälen begann (und das charmante kleine "Hörnchen" auf der Stirn hatte sich als Erstes hervorgewagt) – was übrigens einfacher war, als eine unversehrte Walnusshälfte aus zwar sehr schmackhaften, aber auch besonders kleinen und festen Brandenburger Walnüssen herauszuknacken. Eine fürwahr harte Nuss.

that was a cloudy, cloudy afternoon, a little drizzle ... and actually I was already too late for the light conditions.

das war ein trüber wolkenverhangener Nachmittag, ein wenig Nieselregen...und eigentlich war ich schon zu spät für die Lichtverhältnis.

Actually, I'm not a big fan of panoramas. Somehow they only seem right when they are printed in large format and hanging on the wall (maybe that will give someone an idea :-)) But when I watched the sunset here in front of the church of St. Coloman in the Allgäu alps, I couldn't resist. First, as I mentioned elsewhere, the sunset wasn't in the "right" spot, and second, I didn't want just one or two of the peaks in the background, I wanted to show as much of the mountain range as possible. This is the result. And even though the sun stubbornly stayed hidden behind the band of clouds, I'm quite happy with the end result.
Of course, there is also a classic shot from the familiar perspective, but I'll save that for a later point in time.
Eigentlich bin ich kein großer Freund von Panoramen. Irgendwie wirken die erst richtig, wenn sie im Großformat ausgedruckt an der Wand hängen (vielleicht bringt das ja jetzt jemanden auf eine Idee :-)) Doch als ich hier vor der Kirche St. Coloman im Allgäu den Sonnenuntergang verfolgte, konnte ich nicht widerstehen. Zum einen war, wie ich an anderer Stelle schon erwähnt habe, der Sonnenuntergang nicht an der "richtigen" Stelle und zum anderen wollte ich nicht nur ein oder zwei der Gipfel im Hintergrund haben, sondern so viel von der Bergkette zeigen wie möglich. Das hier ist das Resultat. Und auch wenn sich die Sonne hartnäckig hinter dem Wolkenband versteckt hielt, so bin ich mit dem Endergebnis ganz zufriieden.
Natürlich existiert auch noch eine klassische Aufnahme von der bekannten Perspektive, doch die hebe ich mir für einen späteren Zeitpunkt auf.

This scene might be familiar to some of you – it's the GR III version of the "synchronized couple" relaxing on the lawn in front of the main tropical greenhouse at the Botanical Garden in Berlin that I've posted for last Sliders Sunday ("Fun in the Sun", please see the second comment). Well, this one is a little different, it's not the GR version I'd taken from the same position and with the same point of view as the Lensbaby SOL 22 photo which I originally wanted to do either as a monochrome or as a slider for today. But I was never happy with any of the monochrome versions I've processed, because whatever I did, contrasty b&w, soft, sepia... when the colour was gone, all of the sunny lightness and summer ease was gone, too. I've also processed a vintage style colour version of that photo for today, but then stumbled upon this photo with the palm tree and bench (only half of it, but I still think it's a nice element in the image), and I liked that a little better, because it's the same scenery, but a completely different photo, and it also shows a little more of the beautiful ambience of the Botanical Garden. And while this photo actually works well in mono, too, I decided to keep it in colour. Maybe I'm not in "mono mood" right now ;)
DXO PhotoLab processing steps: sharpening and DeepPRIME denoising, a little sliding in ClearView Plus and Smart Lighting, and for the colour rendition (which I usually keep as is) I chose a Leica M10-D simulation, because it added such a nice, creamy-summerly turquoise touch to the blue sky. Next step: Analog Efex for a vintage post card look (Classical Camera preset 7, tweaked), and next.... As far as I recall I also did something in Color Efex (Skylight Filter, most likely), and I also did something in ON1, but since I processed all the different versions of the two GR photos at the same time, I probably got the further processing steps mixed up...

Synchronliegen unter Palmen
Diese Szene kommt einigen von Euch vielleicht bekannt vor, wegen des so schön synchron auf dem Liegerasen des Botanischen Gartens in Berlin relaxenden Pärchens :) Letzten Sonntag habe ich Euch die Lensbaby-SOL-22-Version gezeigt (hier im 2. Kommentar zu sehen). Eigentlich wollte ich ja als GR-III-Version das Foto, das ich aus dem gleichen Blickwinkel gemacht hatte, als SW-Version zeigen. SW funktionierte mit dieser Version aber nicht, denn ohne Farbe fehlt dem Foto jegliche sommerliche Leichtigkeit. Deshalb hatte ich es dann als Farbversion bearbeitet, war aber auch damit nicht 100%ig zufrieden. Zum Glück habe ich dann noch diese Version mit Palme und halber (dem Geradestellen geschuldet) Bank entdeckt, die mir sogar ein wenig besser gefällt, weil man mehr vom Ambiente des Botanischen Gartens sieht und es eben, vom verbindenen Element des Pärchens mal abgesehen, ein gänzlich anderes Foto als die Lensbaby-Version ist.

Gothic duck
Nah, not really. I saw this beauty at the river and, spellbound by its unique looks, crouched down to take photos. Meanwhile, I heard two women behind me talking about this duck. They were wondering if the plumage was real or if someone or something had colored the feathers black. Not knowing myself what this duck was and what species, I kept my mouth shut. At night, I looked on the Internet for info and found out that the plumage was indeed iridescent black and not caused by some kind of ink. Most likely, this gorgeous bird is called a Cayuga Duck. I haven't found any other species even remotely similar to this duck. Why am I still not 100% positive that it is indeed a Cayuga Duck? Well, the Cayuga is classified as a small to medium size duck, but this one was rather large, about the size of a goose. Hm...
Gothicente
Nee, eigentlich nicht. Ich sah diese Schönheit am Fluß und, verzaubert von ihrem einzigartigen Aussehen, ging ich in die Hocke und machte Fotos. Währenddessen hörte ich hinter mir zwei Frauen über die Ente reden. Sie fragten sich, ob das Gefieder echt sei, oder ob irgendjemand oder irgendetwas die Federn schwarz gefärbt hatten. Da ich selbst nicht wußte, was diese Ente war oder welche Spezies, hielt ich meinen Mund. Am Abend suchte ich nach Info im Internet und fand heraus, dass das Gefieder tatsächlich schillernd schwarz ist und nicht durch eine Art Tinte verursacht wurde. Mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit handelt es sich bei diesem wunderschönen Vogel um eine Smaragdente. Ich habe sonst keine andere Spezies gefunden, die auch nur annähernd dieser Ente ähnelt. Warum bin ich dann immer noch nicht 100% sicher, dass es tatsächlich eine Smaragdente ist? Nun, weil die Smaragedente als klein- bis mediumgroß klassifiziert ist, aber diese hier ziemlich groß war, mehr die Größe einer Gans. Hm...
This is one of those scenes that immediately captivated me without really knowing why. Actually, I stopped at this pond in the spa park because of something completely different (what, You will see tomorrow) but then this look caught my eye and I knew that I had to make the picture.
It wasn't until I looked at the image on the computer that I realized it was this harmony of different colors, shapes, and layers. The whole thing supplemented by this wonderfully soft mood caused by the rain creates something very special from my point of view.
Dies ist eine dieser Szenen, die mich augenblicklich gefesselt haben, ohne das ich so richtig wusste warum. Eigentlich bin ich wegen etwas ganz anderem an diesem Teich im Kurpark stehen geblieben (was seht Ihr morgen) doch dann fiel mir dieses Bild ins Auge und ich wusste, dass muss ich fotografieren.
Erst beim Betrachten des Bildes am Computer erkannte ich, dass es die Harmonie der verschiedenen Farben, Formen und Ebenen war. Das Ganze noch ergänzt durch diese durch den Regen verursachte wundervoll weiche Stimmung erschafft etwas aus meiner Sicht sehr Besonderes.

Also ich kann eigentlich nichts anderes zu St. Anna in Traxl sagen, als dass sie meine absolute Lieblingskirche ist. Sie wurde im 15. Jahrhundert erbaut und der heiligen Anna geweiht. Ich finde sie süß, putzelig und sie besticht den Betrachter immer wieder mit anderen Ansichten. je nachdem wie und wo sie aus der Endmoränen-Landschaft auftaucht. Nichts destotrotz besitzt sie goldenen Proportionen, die mein Herz immer wieder für sie einnehmen.
Als ich dieses Foto machte, litt ich noch immer unter den Nachwirkungen eines Bänderanrisses, den ich mir letztes Jahr zugezogen hatte. Der Fuß tat die ganze Zeit weh und zwang mich zur kompletten Entschleunigung ... jeder Meter war hart errungen. Ich habe mich damals im Abendlicht der Kirche genähert, langsam wie eine Schnecke, und die Lichtsituation bis zum letzten Atemzug genossen. Als Fotograf ist man häufig geneigt, von einem Motiv zum anderen zu hasten ... die wahre Kamera aber sind wir selbst ... an die schönsten Momente erinnere ich mich ganz genau, weil es vielleicht ein kleiner Lichtstrahl oder ein hinterleuchtetes Blättchen war, das mein Auge fesselte. Es ist nicht die Technik, die ein Foto gut macht ... es ist die Emotion, die man selbst empfindet, und die sich in der Seelenlandschaft des Bildes widerspiegelt.

Well, I can't really say anything else about this little church named St. Anna than it is my absolute favorite church. It was built in the 15th century and dedicated to St. Anne. I find it so cute and it always captivates the viewer with different views depending on how and where it emerges from the moraine landscape. Nonetheless, it has golden proportions that keeps my heart occupied for it.
When I took this picture, I was still suffering from the aftermath of a torn ligament I tore last year. My foot hurt the whole time and forced me to slow down completely ... every meter was hard won. Back then I approached the church in the evening light, slowly like a snail, and enjoyed the light situation until my last breath. As a photographer you are often inclined to rush from one subject to another ... but nevertheless we are the real camera ... I remember the most beautiful moments very well because it was perhaps a small ray of light or a backlit leaf that my eye caught. It is not the technique that takes a picture well ... it is the emotion that you feel yourself and that is reflected in the soul landscape of the picture.

Diese Aufnahme war ein Experiment. Das f1,8 /45 mm ist eigentlich für Porträt und Street gedacht (entsprich 90 mm Vollformat). Nur mache ich im Augenblick kein Street. So mit dem Marumi Nahlinsenvorsatz mal getestet (gegen ein Fliegenfenster)
My art revisited. Since Explore showed the pics from 6 years ago, and one of my most viewed pics was among the Top 5, I was reminded of my "stretch" art that I used to do. This is a pic from my beginnings - lo and behold, I still like it! :-)
Weil Explore die Fotos von vor 6 Jahren zeigte, kam das am meisten gesehene Foto von mir nochmal zu neuen Ehren. Diese stretch Bilder, wie ich sie nenne, mag ich eigentlich immer noch! Hier ein Bild aus den Anfängen meiner stretch Experimente.
Eigentlich ist es das zusammenwirken vieler Farben und Nuancen, was den Gesamteindruck bewirkt. Deshalb mag ich Pflanzen so gern. Hier war eben mal das Gelb herausragend.
What makes the overall impression? Mostly a lot of colors and shades. In this case, yellow is the star.

The final result is kind of my own interpretation and combination of two of the quite many in-camera Jpg film presets: "Bleach Bypass" and the rather popular "High Contrast BW". While both presets had yielded nice, interesting Jpgs – Bleach Bypass did a great job with the facade's (which is made of Franconian Muschelkalk / shelly limestone) texture and patterns, while High Contrast BW created a very dramatic, dark and moody image –, I still had not been 100 percent happy with either: I didn't like the way the camera had processed the colours in the Bleach Bypass mode, and the High Contrast BW mode had smudged the fine details quite considerably. But since I luckily had set the camera to record both Jpg and Raw I was able to process the Raw file so that it now has the drama and moodiness of the High Contrast BW, and also the details of Bleach Bypass.
By now I've long returned to shooting Raw only with the Ricoh; it saves battery life (the tiny GRIII has an equally tiny and therefore not particularly long-lasting battery), and if I wish I can still apply one of the in-camera film presets to the Raw file later. But actually I prefer to do my own processing :)
Eine der vielen Treppen des Berliner Olympiastadions, die ins Stadion hinein- und zu den Rängen führen.
Fotografiert mit der Ricoh GRIII und als Bearbeitung meine Interpretation / Kombination zweier Kamera-Jpg-Voreinstellungen ("Bleach Bypass"- und "Hochkontrast S/W"-Bildsteuerung). Beide von der Kamera automatisch bearbeiteten JPgs "hatten was", gefielen mir letztlich aber nicht zu 100 Prozent. Bei "Bleach Bypass" hatte die Kamera die Textur und Musterung des fränkischen Muschelkalks sehr fein und schön herausgearbeitet, dafür aber gefielen mir die Farben nicht so gut; Hochkontrast S/W hingegen hatte zwar ein wunderbar dramatisches, düsteres Endergebnis erzeugt, dafür aber die Texturen deutlich vernachlässigt. Da war es nur gut, dass ich die Bilder sowohl als Jpg als auch als Raw aufgezeichnet hatte und das Foto noch einmal von Grund auf neu entwickeln konnte: mit dem Drama von Hochkontrast S/W und den Details von Bleach Bypass.
Mittlerweile bin ich bei der GRIII längst wieder dazu übergegangen, nur Raw zu fotografieren. Das schont den recht schwachen Akku – und eigentlich bearbeite ich meine Fotos sowieso lieber selbst. Und wenn ich mag, kann ich nachträglich in der Kamera immer noch eins der vielen Film-Presets auf das Raw anwenden.
Eigentlich hatte es den ganzen Tag geregnet, erst zum Feierabend kam zwischen den Regenschauern mal zaghaft die Sonne hervor. Da hab ich mir gedacht, dass könnte vielleicht noch eine ganz hübsche Abendstimmung geben. Also bin ich zum Gamrig, den Felsen rechts im Vordergrund. Ja, die Stimmung war OK, aber das eigentlche Highlight habe ich erst auf dem Heimweg einfangen können, als das Elbtal komplett mit Nebel gefüllt war und nur noch die Festung Königstein und der Gamrig herausschauten .
It had actually rained all day, even the whole day before. Only at the end of the day did the sun tentatively come out between the rain showers. So I figured that might create a very nice evening mood, maybe even a rainbow. So I'm to the Gamrig, the rock in the foreground on the right. Yes, the atmosphere was OK, but I was only able to catch the real highlight on the way home, when the Elbe Valley was completely filled with fog and only the Königstein Fortress and the Gamrig were visible - a fantastic sight shortly before dark!

I was about to photograph geese when I saw a crow circling in the distance. I took aim at the crow and pursued it as it swooped down toward the water. To my great surprise she had caught a small fish :-))

Ich wollte eigentlich Gänse fotografieren, als ich eine Krähe in weiter Ferne kreisen sah. Ich nahm die Krähe ins Visier und verfolgte Sie, als Sie Richtung Wasser hinunterstieß. Zu meiner großen Überraschung hatte Sie einen kleinen Fisch erwischt :-))

Eigentlich ist Salobreña eine weiße, kleine Stadt. Das Licht für ein Foto ist am besten morgens. Das wird die schöne Ortsseite von der Sonne beleuchtet und ist strahlend weiß. Als Langschläfer habe ich es allerdings nicht geschafft diese Stimmung abzulichten. Stattdessen wartetet ich lieber einen Sonnenuntergang ab.
Actually, Salobrena is a white little town. The light for a photo is best in the morning. The beautiful side of the town is illuminated by the sun and is bright white. But as a late riser I did not manage to photograph this mood. Instead I prefer to wait for a sunset.

Der Bestand der Rotmilane hat sich in den letzten Jahren in Süd-Hessen stark vergrößert. Ich habe sogar fast den Eindruck, dass die Milane bei uns in der Gegend die Bussarde als häufigsten/größten Greifvogel abgelöst haben. Da beide unterschiedliche Beute schlagen sollte es keine direkte Nahrungskonkurrenz zwischen den beiden Arten geben. Vielleicht hängt die Veränderung in der Anzahl auch wieder mit dem Klimawandel zusammen. Mal abwarten, wie die Entwicklung weitergeht. Wer weiss, vielleicht tauchen hier an der Bergstrasse in ein paar Jahren wenn die Wälder im hessischen Ried weg sind ja auch noch Geier auf. 😋
Tech. Info: Der Milan ist relativ niedrig auf mich zugeflogen, die "Schwierigkeit" bei diesem Foto war eigentlich nur den Vogel nicht im Gegenlicht zu erwischen, sondern idealerweise mit der Sonne in meinem Rücken, am besten so, dass das Licht ihn auch unten etwas ausleuchtet. Das hilft nicht nur bei den Schattenpartien, sondern auch mit dem Himmelsblau. Die niedrige ISO hilft wiederum den maximalen Helligkeitsumfang des Sensors auszunutzen.
Um diesen schönen Jäger besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen euch viele Details verloren.
The population of red kites has increased significantly in southern Hesse in recent years. I almost have the impression that the kites have replaced the buzzards as the most common largest bird of prey in our area. Since both take different prey, there should be no direct food competition between the two species. Perhaps the change in numbers is also related to climate change. I guess we have to wait and see. Who knows, maybe vultures will appear here on the Bergstrasse (-> mountain street) in a few years when the last forests in the Rhine plain are gone. 😋
Tech info: The Kite flew towards me pretty low, the "difficulty" with this photo was mainly not to catch the bird against the sun, but ideally with the sun behind me, ideally in an angle that the light also illuminates it a little from below. Eigentlich lege ich nicht viel Wert auf Silvester und mein Leben teilt sich in andere Abschnitte,aber auch ich habe eine Collage mit Rückblicken zusammen gefasst.
Die Auswahl ist sehr subjektiv und die Fotos sind z.T. stellvertretend für wichtige Dinge in meinem Leben.
Nächstes Jahr könnte es sein, dass ich nicht mehr so viel Zeit bei Flickr verbringen kann,aber ich hoffe, ihr begleitet mich trotzdem.

Actually, I don't place much importance to New Year's Eve and my life is divided into other sections, but nevertheless I created a collage with retrospect.
The selection(choice) is very subjective and the photos are often standing for important events in my life.

Ich war eigentlich dabei Bekassinen am Rand eines Schilfgürtels zu fotografieren, als plötzlich diese Rohrdommel derartig dicht an mir vorbeiflog.
Leider kam ich nicht mehr dazu die Verschlusszeit zu verkürzen . Letztendlich bin ich froh sie überhaupt erwischt zu haben.

The autumn weather on the weekend not only brought sunshine, the cold Bohemian wind also brought a lot of fog and clouds, some of which lasted the whole day. Actually, I was already on my way home when the Lilienstein presented itself in these incredible colors shortly before sunset.

El convento de San Esteban es un convento dominico situado en la ciudad de Salamanca.
En el actual solar del convento, ocupado por la iglesia parroquial de San Esteban, levantaron el primitivo convento, luego destruido para construir el actual, en 1524.
Aunque se le considera un excelente ejemplo del estilo plateresco, lo prolongado de sus fases constructivas explica la mezcla de estilos que van desde el gótico final hasta el barroco, estilo este poco apreciable en su arquitectura pero bien presente en el retablo mayor.
Según la tradición, Colón se alojó en este convento (en realidad en el anterior, destruido para construir este) cuando fue a Salamanca para defender ante los geógrafos de la Universidad la posibilidad de llegar a las Indias navegando hacia Occidente.

Am heutigen Standort des Klosters, an dem sich die Pfarrkirche San Esteban befindet, bauten sie 1524 das ursprüngliche Kloster, das später zerstört wurde, um das jetzige zu bauen.
Obwohl es als hervorragendes Beispiel des plateresken Stils gilt, erklärt die Länge seiner Bauphasen die Stilmischung von Spätgotik bis Barock, ein Stil, der in seiner Architektur nicht sehr auffällt, aber im Hauptaltar gut präsent ist.
Der Überlieferung nach blieb Kolumbus in diesem Kloster (eigentlich in dem vorherigen, das zerstört wurde, um dieses zu bauen), als er nach Salamanca ging, um vor den Geographen der Universität die Möglichkeit zu verteidigen, Indien durch Segeln in Richtung Westen zu erreichen.
Here's a bunch of squeaky-fresh, happy, sunshiny blue sky tulips for you :)
Well, they were fresh when I photographed them a few weeks ago, and they stayed fresh on my camera's memory card ;) And they are very happy to be here, indeed, because actually these are "HDR exposure bracketing tulips" which weren't meant for a Flickr appearance. One night I wanted to ckeck out how much better (or just different) a five image HDR would turn out compared to the three image HDRs I'd always taken so far. So I didn't bother to move the ironing board (which was in the frame, too) aside or get up and find something subtle, plain to put behind the tulips as an unobstrusive background.
The result: a nice tulip HDR, in fact so nice that I thought I'd share the tulips with you, but a rather busy living room background even at f/2.8. This, I guess, is one of those photographic situations where a full frame camera, compared to MFT, plays to its strenghts. But since the tulips were actually pretty well isolated against the background, it was really easy to mask the latter out, and use a different background. I opted for the "classic" black first, but found it boring (compared to achieving a dark background with photographic means).
So I flipped through my images, found a few nice cloud photos, and thought, "Why not something a little kitschy, a little funky for a change?," although the sunset sky I'd chosen first was a little too kitschy even for my taste ;) But the simple, minimalist "lots of blue sky and a single cloud" background you can see here actually looks rather nice, methinks (there's also an airplane with long vapour trails in the image, but it's hidden behind the tulips).
The image then kind of framed itself. How? Well, I hadn't deleted the layer with the black background, and had added the layer with the cloud image as a "middle layer" between the tulip layer and the background layer - and since the cloud image was taken with a 16 MP cam (the E-M5 II), while the tulip image has 20 MP, all of a sudden there was broad black frame around the tulips and sky. Which I also liked, somehow, but in the end decided to change the black to blue (because the black frame looked a little too harsh in the final image) and I've also slightly enlarged the cloud image, because I thought a not too broad "frame" (that is actually another background) would look better as well.

Wochenend-Tulpen
Es ist mal wieder Zeit für ein paar Blümchen. Quietschig-frische, fröhliche Schönwetter-Tulpen, mal etwas anders präsentiert. Eigentlich waren diese Tulpen, die ich vor ein paar Wochen fotografiert hatte, gar nicht für Flickr gedacht, handelt es sich doch um HDR-5er-Belichtungsreihe-Testtulpen. Ich wollte eines Abends mal ausprobieren, wie sehr sich eine Belichtungsreihe aus fünf Fotos von den HDRs mit drei Bildern, die ich bis dato immer gemacht hatte, unterscheidet – und da kamen die Tulpen auf dem Wohnzimmertisch gerade recht. Allerdings hatte ich das Bügelbrett nicht beiseite geräumt und es war mir auch nicht in den Sinn gekommen, einfach etwas Einfarbiges hinter die Vase zu stellen. Warum auch, es war ja bloß ein Test. Und so hatte ich dann zwar hübsche HDR-Tulpen, die doch irgendwie "Flickr-würdig" aussahen, aber einen recht unruhigen Wohnzimmer-Hintergrund, selbst bei Offenblende. Eine fotografische Situation, in der eine Vollformat-Kamera sicher ihre Stärken voll ausgespielt hätte, nur habe ich keine ;)
Allerdings waren die Tulpen gegen den Hintergrund doch so gut und klar abgegrenzt, dass es ein Leichtes war, sie freizustellen und den Hintergrund einfach zu ersetzen. Zunächst dachte ich an schlichtes Schwarz, fand das aber doch etwas langweilig (im Vergleich zu einem mit fotografischen Mitteln erzielten dunklen Hintergrund). Da fielen mir meine vielen Wolkenfotos ein und ich dachte "Warum nicht?". Der Sonnenuntergangs-Wolkenhimmel, den ich dann zuerst ausprobiert hatte, war mir dann doch zu kitschig, aber das Foto mit der einen Wolke vor blauem Himmel, das Ihr hier als Hintergrund seht (und auf dem sich eigentlich auch noch ein Flugzeug mit langen Kondensstreifen befindet, das hier aber von den Tulpen verdeckt wird) fand ich recht schick zusammen mit dem bunten Strauß.
Das Bild hat sich dann auch noch quasi selbst gerahmt. Wie das? Ganz einfach: Das Wolkenbild hatte ich mit einer 16-MP-Kamera (der E-M5 II) und die Tulpen mit der 20-MP E-M1 III aufgenommen. Und auf einmal hatte ich deshalb einen dicken Rahmen von der noch nicht gelöschten Ebene mit dem schwarzen Hintergrund um die freigestellten Tulpen und die Wolkenebene herum. Ich habe dann das Wolkenfoto noch etwas größer gezogen, um den "Rahmen", der ja eigentlich ein zweiter Hintergrund ist, etwas zu verkleinern, und das Schwarz durch ein weniger hartes, etwas dunkleres Blau ersetzt. Fertig war ein Foto, dass sich mehr oder weniger zufällig ergeben hat ;)

ENG: A backyard view with many corners, edges and reflections in the middle of the Berlin district Mitte. I discovered this large backyard by chance while walking along the Spree river near the Friedrichstraße Structure suburban train station and was immediately thrilled by the sight of the architecture and the view of the sky.
Why "Am Zirkus"? Because that's the name of the street by the building today. ☻ The street was actually called Markthallenstraße when it was built in 1865, but it was quickly renamed. Because the market hall was an economic failure. In 1873, the "Markthallen-Circus" (later taken over by the Circus Renz) opened in the building, whereupon the street was renamed, first Am Circus, since 1903 in the current spelling. Nowadays, of course, the market hall is history and in the same place stands a new building since 2014 in which there is also a hotel.

GER: Ein Hinterhof Ausblick mit vielen Ecken, Kanten und Spiegelungen inmitten des Berliner Bezirks Mitte. Ich habe diesen großen Hinterhof durch Zufall entdeckt beim Spaziergang an der Spree nahe des S-Bahnhofs Friedrichstraße und war sofort begeistert von dem Anblick der Architektur und dem Ausblick in den Himmel.
Warum „Am Zirkus“? Weil die heutige Straße am Gebäude so heißt. ☻ Eigentlich hieß die Straße bei ihrer Erbauung 1865 mal Markthallenstraße. diese wurde aber schnell umbenannt. Da die Markthalle ein wirtschaftlicher Misserfolg war. 1873 eröffnete in dem Gebäude der „Markthallen-Circus“ (später vom Circus Renz übernommen), woraufhin die Straße umbenannt wurde, zunächst Am Circus, seit 1903 in der heutigen Schreibweise. Heutzutage ist die Markthalle natürlich Geschichte und an selbige stelle steht seit 2014 ein Neubau in dem sich auch ein Hotel befindet.
Eigentlich ist meine Foto-Ausrüstung nicht ideal für solche Aufnahmen, trotzdem wollte ich ein Erinnerungsfoto nicht unversucht lassen. Die kurze Nacht, das Ereignis als solches bleibt unvergessen. / Actually my photo equipment is not ideal for those shots, but I did not want to leave no stone unturned a souvenir photo. The short night, the event as such will not be forgotten.

Diese Aufnahme des Kleinen Fuchs auf einer Distel ist entstanden während ich eigentlich versuchte ein Schwarzkehlchen zu fotografieren. Es lohnt sich immer die Augen nach anderen Motiven offen zu halten.
Um das Bild besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen viele Details verloren.

When I took this photo at a small stream, I actually only wanted to photograph the structures of the wave. Only when I developed the photo at home did I notice that the boulder where the wave broke looks like a skull.

Als ich dieses Foto an einem kleinen Bachlauf machte, wollte ich eigentlich nur die Strukturen der Welle ablichten. Erst als ich das Foto zu Hause entwickelt habe, bemerkte ich, dass der Feldstein, wo sich die Welle brach, wie ein Totenschädel aussieht.
Makaber, oder nur ein Streich der Natur?...like so many things in life!!!
The amaryllis with its large, eye-catching blossom is a true beauty among flowers.
The naturalist Carl von Linné, who knew a young and beautiful shepherdess named Amaryllis, gave this plant its name.
As a symbol of a beautiful woman, he also gave this flower the epithet "Belladonna".
The amaryllis in the picture is actually a Hippeastrum - an amaryllis because it has a hollow stem and blooms at Christmas time.
The real "true amaryllis", the belladonna, has a double stem and does not flower at Christmas time.
But the two look very similar.

Aber, beide sehen sich sehr ähnlich.

Originally I went out to look for a famous moonrise photo - but it was totally clouded in this direction - so I just turned my tripod in the other direction - in direction of Ebersberg in Bavaria. You can see the tower of St. Sebastian.
Eigentlich wollte ich einen tollen Mondaufgang fotografieren, doch in dieser Richtung war es vollkommen bewölkt - so habe ich mein Stativ einfach in die andere Richtung gedreht - in Richtung Ebersberg. Ihr könnt hier den Turm von St. Sebastian sehen...
"Street" ist eigentlich nicht mein Sujet, aber ich mag das Spiel mit Licht und Schatten in den kontrastreichen Großstadt-Bildern von Sean Tucker sehr, und hier ergab sich spontan ein passendes Motiv...

Es ist Teil des Olympiageländes und wurde von 1934 bis 1936 für die Spiele der XI. Olympiade (1.–16. August 1936) mit einem Fassungsvermögen von 100.000 Zuschauern errichtet.
Heute ist das Olympiastadion Heimspielstätte des Fußballvereins Hertha BSC aus der Fußball-Bundesliga, der heute auch Hauptnutzer des Stadions ist. Es bietet momentan 74.475 Sitzplätze, davon 38.020 auf dem Unterring und 36.455 auf dem Oberring.
