This was taken at our (Indra and Temperance) handfasting, on 12/18/1998, with a poloroid camera by a guest. I, Indra, then took it into photoshop and applied the orton effect.
This guy did just that - broke off from the group, flew to this branch and sat there looking straight at me, posing patiently till I was done!
The mural "Butterfly Effect: Dreams Take Flight" painted on the side of the Dixie Printing building at the corner of 15th and Main streets in Joplin, Mo., was dedicated in September. The lead muralist Dave Loewenstein included art work from local children in the work
Forest scenery, with simple Orton processing.
I used layer blending modes screen and multiply (blurred base layer), levels and curves adjustment layer (selective - masked part of the photos, because original was darker than I wanted).

One of the ways to do it: ORTON Effect.

I've always been fascinated by science and anything related to it, and the other day I'd read up on a phenomena known as the Leidenfrost Effect. It's essentially what happens when water comes into contact with any surface that is significantly hotter than its boiling point. The immediate contact creates a vapor barrier between the surface and the water droplets, which actually slows the evaporative process and completely stops the water from merely boiling off the surface.
In this experiment, I decided to test it using a burner element and a reflective drip pan. The burner had been preheated on "High" mode for 10 minutes to allow for the drip pan to reach the Leidenfrost point. This droplet of water skittered around on the drip pan for a full minute before evaporating.
