On Bhogi, people discard old and derelict things and concentrate on new things causing change or transformation. At dawn, people light bonfires with logs of wood, other solid-fuels, and wooden furniture at home that are no longer useful.

The Labrador Effect

Back to my post from yesterday for HSoS.

First of all, I would like to thank all the lovely Flickrities for the wonderful comments on yesterday's topic - title wanted - , everyone could have been right.

In my tags I announced that there would be a second photo, actually I should have posted it the other way around, but then the story would be a lie :)

On an autumn walk I suddenly heard a noise and it was anything but heavenly. The little rascal growled violently and it sounded like this: "Don't dare to come closer, or my huge friend will hug you" :-) and indeed, there he was! I then went on quickly ;-))

Can you see it? It wasn't predictable, the Labrador Effect ;-)))

Thanks for visiting and time to watch, happy Sunday , stay healthy, all!

PS

The two dogs are very happy and live and guard on a small horse farm, with adjoining small pond, a paradise for anglers. I'm only sad myself because I couldn't stroke them.

Orton Effect, Mali Losinj.Croatia

An echo of a drop.

A quiet stillness.

Disrupted by its own nature.

Bringing a chaos that radiates outwards.

But why is chaos sometimes so beautiful?

And perhaps even necessary?

reflection of sailboat mast

I don't normally do "nature" shots however this caught my eye

Take a moment to reflect about this: every action you have done, every step you have taken has led you to this point... It's beautiful chaos, isn't it? This theory is what they call "The Butterfly Effect."

The idea that even the small actions you do, have an effect on your life in ways we can't even imagine. So, close your eyes and realize the power you hold in your hands... Every selection, every moment adds to the storyline of your existence. Take a moment to contemplate on the beauty of it all.

This is the flat and relatively wide area of the pass, which, under the snow, hides the Pramollo lake/Stausee, which is a shallow artificial basin where the water, coming out of the soaked peat bog that characterizes the surrounding land, converges.

Peat is a deep and water-rich soil, with these characteristics it has helped the Spruce (Picea abies or Picea excelsea) to stay quite healthy despite the many dry and extremely hot summers (even at high altitudes).

Elsewhere this tree, a prevalent component of the Siberian taiga and widespread in the inner Alpine valleys, is suffering from parasites and lichens that attack this tree weakened by a soil that has become progressively poorer and too hot in summer.

A high percentage of this species has already died, especially in the sloping areas where water is scarcer, the land more exposed to the sun and generally to the wind that on October 29, 2018 (Vaia/Scirocco Storm) caused a domino effect of these weakened trees, especially between Carnia, Comelico and Cadore.

The account at the time seen from the sea:

It is precisely on the slopes that the Spruce/red Fir/Norway Spruce would be most useful, as an anti-landslide, thanks to its ability to root widely and deeply, but the moist and fresh soil it needs is now only found in the valleys with marked thermal inversion or in these high mountain areas where the snow is still abundant and resilient, while peat, as mentioned, is very useful in this case.

To facilitate the arrival of Italian skiers, the Austrian resort helps clear the snow from the small, winding road, that leads to Nassfeld from Pontebba and with its snowcats spreads fresh snow on a cross-country ski run, which is also a pedestrian path, (despite the disagreements...), which makes an 8 in this area, all in Italian territory, and thanks to them, it must be said, this pass is almost always reachable, even in the middle of winter, effectively cleared after a snowstorm and easily walkable and skiable thanks to the compressed snow.

Spotted this Indian Peacock serenading his hen in the golden rays of the setting sun.

The effect is so different from the 'daybreak' images I took a few days ago.

Here, the feathers seem to be sprinkled with gold-dust.

Like all my Infra Red shots this one is pretty much straight out of camera. Just a slight adjustment of exposure levels in processing. The effect of the "sun" here is the most exciting aspect of the picture. Obviously this duck pond and the surrounding trees take on the usual characteristics of an IR shot. But I assure you this sun is not added in for effect in processing! It is indeed the real sun, but the sun as refracted in the lens arrangement in my converted Lumix DMC-TZ40 camera.

It's an early summer day in south Wales. But an Atlantic weather system has brought mizzle to the region.

Mizzle is a very fine rain that, on days where there is little wind, appears more like mist than rain. It is particularly prevalent on the western coastal aspects of the UK. Whilst it is more regular either side of winter, it can occur at any time of the year.

The main effect of mizzle is that it stays bound to whatever it land on - animals, clothing - and particularly vegetation....like this collection of wild flowers and plants close to where I live.

I avoided any curves when building the Federations latest interceptor to give it a sharp edged, aggressive feel.

No curves except this excellent new canopy in trans yellow that is. For this we have @pixarslightyear and Angus MacLane to thank for.

On 16th july 2019 in Italy a partial moon eclipse occurred, during the full moon phase. For this reason at th start of the eclipse a perfectly white shining moon started to become reddish, with a spectacular effect.

Gateshead camera club had an end of season meeting on the quayside last night. This is one of my favourite pics from the night. I've added an sfx filter for good effect.

Cropped and then used Adobe photoshop beta cosmos 9 effect. Big thanks to John Lunt for suggesting I use this particular effect in this manner!*
