In June 2018, the Education Office at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory hosted 50 pre-service teachers for a weeklong professional development workshop, during which they got hands-on experience with STEM lessons, heard from JPL scientists and engineers, and toured the Pasadena, California, facility. The experience was part of NASA's Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) Educator Institute, which takes place at NASA centers across the country each summer. The first of the two sessions at JPL this summer focused on elementary-school STEM education.
