Lucy Aldrich Osband was born in 1835 and joined the faculty of the Michigan State Normal School in 1882. She retired in 1895 and died in 1912.
In recognition of their exemplary roles as educators, Baldwin Wallace recently honored Drs. Barbara (Mueller) Sawrey ’73 and Thea (McAfee) Wilson ’75 as Outstanding Educators and celebrated Dorin Jackson ’10 and Sarah Piscsalko ’13 as Jill Herrick Graduate Education Scholarship recipients. The four individuals were lauded March 25 at the 2018 Celebration of Outstanding Educators.

More than 700 applicants attended the DMPS Educator Fair at the Iowa Events Center on Saturday, January 11. The district plans to fill approximately 200 positions for next school year. Thank you to everyone who attended, and for the great work that went into another successful career fair!

Day 2: June 19 2022
On June 18-19 ICAN and ICAN Austria brought together social change innovators, educators, and nuclear weapons experts from across the globe for a unique civil society gathering ahead of the first Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Vienna.
Because I'm a volunteer, the staff allowed me to enter the enclosure where they were presenting an education program -- this time about Doug, the African gray parrot. My plan was to photograph Doug in the foreground, with the educator and her audience in the background.
Things didn't work out as I planned! It seems that Doug loves to be photographed. So, no matter how subtle I tried to be, he turned his back to his admirers, for the sake of the camera's attention!

When Experience Becomes Form: Museum Educator Workshop with Individuals Thought to be Associated with The Order of the Third Bird

In a workshop session with museum educators, individuals thought to be associated with the collective The Order of the Third Bird presented research on the history of the collective and led looking exercises drawn from Adolph Huxley's "The Art of Seeing” before facilitating a group reflection and discussion. Visitors are invited to join us for a public program on June 4, When Experience Becomes Form: An Attentional Exercise Developed in Conjunction with the Order of the Third Bird, during which educators will implement the techniques they developed in this workshop and lead visitors in attentional protocols.
