A mindmap version of Chandler's essay "Technological determinism" (2002). Produced for week 1 of #edcmooc

in opposition to the cuttingedge tech and imaginery we have been exposed at the #edcmooc i decided to capture some pics of casual technologies i could spot around my place. these are common artifacts that may have become obsolete or remain invisible due their extreme functionality or simplicity. they somehow make me recall my humble humanity. the rest of the images in the series: flic.kr/s/aHsjDYue6g

pictures have been taken with a simple compact camera and edited using Gimp, a free and open-source image edition software. www.gimp.org/

Thinking about the themes of Being human, Week 3 Coursera, I decided to use a picture I have taken many years ago in the Brasilia National Library where walls, roof and ceiling are reflecting and it's not so easy to understand what is reflection of what... such as maybe it will be in the future: a kaleidoscopic reality made of virtual images projected in every surface! So what will be the boundaries of human bodies, minds, dreams?

The intrinsic nature of human beings hasn't changed despite thousands of years of technological advancement.

Each puppet is tied to the master, they play when he plays, and creates the illusion of a band with digital sound.

Plugged In - is this the future? -

I took this picture in a train. A student was 'studying' i a traditional way through an electronic-printed presentation, However, she used mobile in a right way to communicate. IT disorder, isn't it?

This image is part of an exercise for the "E-learning and Digital Cultures" Course, week 3. #edcmooc

Find the human in this picture. (Hint: There isn't one...Think Magritte)

"Beyond access and cost: a primary benefit of open education insofar as it is not merely open but opening, is the opportunity for networked transcontextualism. A planetary double-take."

Gardner Campbell, OpenEd'12

Technology is not evil but it is its misuse what causes the problem and needs to be addressed.

I tried to illustrate with this image how bad technology could be when it is not addressed. We all know technology is not longer a device, it goes further; then even if it sounds a bit pessimistic, it would only lead to chaos and devolution when it is not addressed properly. #EDCMOOC

'Humanism never manages to constitute itself; it forever rewrites itself as posthumanism. ... humanism cannot escape its ‘post-’. (Badmington, 2000)

It's the end of EDCMOOC and the best tribute possible is a farewell concert. Well done everyone!

Baby is dreaming about the Technology only !
