"Ironically, it was the students who had curtailed their time climbing the trees, rolling the dough, and conversing with friends and adults in order to become computer “wizards” who typically had the most trouble finding creative things to do with the computer." The Human Touch Education By Lowell Monke, EducationNext, Fall 2004 / Vol. 4, No. 4.

#edcmooc This picture represents the marriage between being human (the tall drink, the ashtray, the nasal drops) and technology.

This is Charles Lagendijk (famous Dutch painter) "digital self", question is: what is human? His vague physical image in the background, the representation of his "self" in his work or eventually the QR code on the foreground. It strikes me that the part most digital and the least human (the QR-code) points most clearly to him as a physical human being with the specific human trait .. creating.

Being in touch and harmony with nature ... being human, connect with your innerself and the planet

Are we having fun yet?

This is part of my final project for the "E-Learning and Digital Courses" MOOC.

Define ‘desirable humanity’

The decision was taken on the go, just like anything in our digital lives, in our fast changing world.

A Quick Wondering about an Element Responds To Your highness in seconds. QWERTY* was the first thing that came to my mind. Because it is through the keyboard that all of us get closer to the answers we are looking for. Spontaneously what comes in mind is Google. it seems that Google has all the responds to our questions. Knowledge is a click away. The way we define ourselves is clear though our digital footprint. What we search clarifies what questions are there demanding answers.

And it was an excellent coincidence that on the 14th February someone (Pantelis) reminds you not only the most common everyday movement that billions of people do but also calls you "highness" buta also that no matter how digital we get, we are stll emotional and in need of human touch, tender words and empathy. Because the first reaction was a most warm welcome of the word "highness" and a smile.

As long as there is love and people by our side there is hope of being ahead the machine, no matter how "clever" it is created. After all we humans create the machine and we create it as we are.

Human Touch is a radically simple vision of how close we can by physically and yet so distracted by technology that the human feel is gone

What does it mean to be human? Are we still human when surrounded by interconnecting 'wires'? What if all that remained of 'human' were the eyes?

The line crossing the eyes represents a tiny slit of education that can help us make sense of the world around us. Although, with more than one strand could we see more? Does digital education only happen only through the eyes or a big listening ear? Is it human to not interact with education in any other way?

There are many other ways to view this picture.

abandoned cyanide tanks used to extract gold from quartz in NZ in 1860s. They were at the cutting edge of technological development

sitting on my laptop whilst pondering all things digital learning and what it means to be human I realised my whole family were in separate spaces using technology in their own way...dystopia or utopia?

What the computer sees - unsure through intrigued to delighted. Plenty of question marks. Inspiring connections. Utopias & dystopias make me think of the Edwin Morgan poem The First Men on Mercury - what is learning and how does it change us?

in opposition to the cuttingedge tech and imaginery we have been exposed at the #edcmooc i decided to capture some pics of casual technologies i could spot around my place. these are common artifacts that may have become obsolete or remain invisible due their extreme functionality or simplicity. they somehow make me recall my humble humanity. the rest of the images in the series: flic.kr/s/aHsjDYue6g
