title: from Wallace Stevens, "The palm at the end of the mind"
The palm at the end of the mind,
Beyond the last thought, rises
In the bronze decor,
A gold-feathered bird
Sings in the palm, without human meaning,
Without human feeling, a foreign song.
[...]
The palm stands on the edge of space.
The wind moves slowly in the branches.
The bird's fire-fangled feathers dangle down.
This image could have many interpretations. My first thought was that it represents technology-enabled communities, but equally it could be seen as us becoming too reliant on technology (and the companies that create it). If you have a different view, I would welcome your comments.

This is my assignment for week 3.
So I put together my actual notebook and my notebook ( laptop) , joined with the colours of Flickr ( pens) and some brainstorming about the course EDCMOOC ( E- Learning and Digital Cultures )
Those who know me here in Flickr know I dont photoshop, so this is , I hope, creative, if not at least it was fun :)!
It is about a Metaphor of being Human in a technological era, but actually art has the interpretation you want to give it :)
My Blog in case you want to read it : vandreacarrasco.blogspot.com/
You can comment and fav to win the contest :) Thank you
This is inspired by Kathy Fitch's post on Week 2 of #edcmooc.
class.coursera.org/edc-001/forum/thread?thread_id=721
She points out that one of the most common prevailing metaphors we have about learning is the classroom. Accepting this metaphor without question limits our creativity and imagination.
This Voicethread started by @feliciasullivan has been my main connection to other students in the course. It feels like a small group. Example of what S. Kolowich (2010) writes about in The Human Element: www.insidehighered.com/news/2010/03/29/lms

I have spread myself too thin and now I am struggling to cope with all the platforms running with this MOOC...
Painted on my phone with Fresco Paint Lite. Inspired by discussions from #edcmooc on opening education, various comments on the portrayal of technology in media, and reactions to how technology is affecting our society.

The theme from week 2: Who (or what) might lose out when we are always on.
An edcMOOC Week 3 activity.
I drive past this house every day and it always makes me think about how my online life impinges on my domestic life. A future vision for my home and garden if I fail to find balance!
I love the tools I have explored in edcMOOC, but I get the greatest pleasure from images I create myself as opposed to the ones I curate and tweak. I hope to use this image for my final artefact in some way.
a visual response to edc
want to know the story behind the image metaphor? see this blog post: spaceoddyssey.wordpress.com/2013/02/14/week-3/

Mosaic No.2 redone to see more of the background (my PearlTree Mind Map) and less of the tiled images
Note: I have added this to the #edcmooc tag cloud not necessarily as a contender for the contest (though I would love a gelaskin for my phone) but rather as a reaction to seeing someone else upload this image to Flickr as their own. It was a good opportunity to talk about creative commons, share-alike and attribution, further proof that the network teaches all in many ways.
www.jisc.ac.uk/ webinar on MOOCs. While I have listened to MOOC talks up to my eyeballs, these folks had some new things to say and it was really interesting to hear the analogies and discussion unfold from so many perspectives.
{Sorry, I didn't write it in the drawing but all acronyms should always be deconstructed: MOOC, in case you may not have heard yet, is a Massively Open Online Course}
Where does the future lead us?
It takes different angles to get a good clue to what future can bring us.
But even with the clearest directions on a sign, you need your own goal to find the way to go.

Exploring Learning through Technology and Nature. Always remember to have your bluebird with you
Bluebird Metaphor - The original Authentic Spirit of a Pigeon. A Pigeon transforms back into a Bluebird once they drop their Fear perspective (which is only an illusion) and trade it in for a Love perspective of freedom, joy, oneness, cooperation, ease, flow, trust and creativity.
Bluebird Mind - The higher, spiritual perspective on things. Seeing from the perspective of Love, and being conscious of and rising above our Pigeon perspectives.
I compared Internet with a window. A window which you can observe all the world, not only your close place.
I utilized photocat to edit it.
Re-uploaded on 11 Feb. The iPhone displays an image instead of the app screen. I think this might provoke more thinking. I also changed the question to include how we view, not just present ourselves.
-----
This is my submission for week 3 of edcmooc. I tried to look at how the way we use technology shapes the way we communicate ourselves to others online.
The papercraft of myself is a whimsical and incomplete self representation, simplistic, limiting, boxed. But in fact, the same can be said of the tools and apps I used.
Also, you may see parts of the real me, my arms and hands, because I am able to choose which part of me I reveal. At the same time, the metadata, geolocation for example, that is part of this digital image can expose information I may wish to hide.
Then, of course, there is also the meanings, intended and unintended, suggested by the tools I chose -- what's up with all these iDevices?
Leave a comment if this image sparks some ideas.

The anatomy of the future maybe? I created this from an old teaching chart; just added a few of the new parts. I realise his left arm appears a little short but it can change length as the owner wishes.

Re. the illusion of the unmediated experience / the MOOC hype cycle
DNA is not a human being.
DNA is becoming so important in modern medicine that there's a danger that it'll become too technical, too distant from real people, real patients.
Let's not forget where it's all about in the end.
Imspiration came from the old painting 'this is not a pipe'. I added DNA drawings to it plus the text 'DNA is not a human'.

I used this image also as my Daily Create assignment in #DS106: make a Magritte like remix
So I thought I would ask a bot what is the meaning of life. Here is what happened.

If you're from #edcmooc, could you also comment on my final assignment ideas please? I'd really appreciate it
Girls Day Out together isn't the same when everyone brings their phones and no charger...sigh...what will they do at an amusement park with no cell service? Talk? Like NO.
I think that, so far, the basis of every teaching procedure used to be the book...but today, how have this changed due to technological evolution?
This is the no text version of an image I submitted as part of #edcmooc. Feel free to remix!

E-learning and Digital Cultures MOOC - Week 3 Topic: Reasserting the human
