This was probably the most novel and tasty dumpling of the evening. Maple-sweet ground walnut filling inside a sorghum wheat dough. I can't imagine the amount of handiwork involved to make the outsides look like walnuts!! It was very (American) autumnal.

Yesterday, it's a national holiday in Japan, and I cooked Pan-Fried Dumpling (焼き餃子) for my family!!
At first I mixed minced pork, chopped vegetables (cabbage, shiitake mushroom, and green chive(ニラ)) with some spice (garlic, salt, soy sauce, Japanese sake), and wrap them with a dumpling dough (餃子の皮). This time, I prepared 62 dumplings!
Arranged the dumplings on the heated pan, and flied several minutes. Don't forget to pour 1/3 cup of water to steam them in the pan.
It's my favorite dish. My family like it so much!

After a frantic 24 hours of packing and throwing things away we were finally out of our Taipei apartment and well on the way to Taichung to live.
No one could be bothered cooking that night so we went to a local place that sells dumplings. I could learn to really love dumplings except that every time I get over confident with eating them I burn my mouth biting into them. I never seem to learn.
