In the dump there is a new school to encourage kids to break the cycle from living in the dump. This is the school, which serves about 350 kids with 12 teachers.
In the mornings colored canyon is apparently swarming with inconsiderate tourists who seem to think this is a reasonable place to dump their water bottles.
We may be crazy enough to want to visit this canyon during the heat of the day, but at least we don't have to share the place with the type of tourists who do this.

This image was taken a few days ago on a very accessable ridge about 11/2 miles above my home. It is very bothersome to me that someone would dump their contractor refuse like this on someone elses (BLM) property. Furthermore, many folks go up there to shoot their guns leaving their targets and empty shells (shotgun, pistol and rifle) scattered all over this beautiful spot, spoiling the view for all who visit. Illegal waste continues to be a problem in a city where we like to see ourselves as amongst the most social and the most ecological in the World. Around the social blocks at Watersportbaan, dumping is systematic and on the rise.
After the raffle tickets for a particular item were poured into the little orange bucket and a winning ticket was drawn, the remaining tickets were dumped into the large white bucket for a final raffle item that was donated to the convention.
I don't know exactly why, but dumping the tickets into the bucket captivated me - just one of those weird things I guess.
