At the First High Tea and Heels
Unlike the fiasco last week this afternoon's offering from the Wellington Burlesque scene was a delight.
Held at a civilised hour (3pm till 5pm), an elegant setting with pretty china and cutlery, delicious and dainty food, friendly people and enjoyable acts (more here). The photos I got were not great as I did not use the flash - it would have been rude.
it was nice to be at an event where they only admitted as many people as was practical - everyone had a seat and could see. After tea (a choice of Earl Grey or English Breakfast), cucumber sandwiches, ham sandwiches, savoury muffins, ginger cake, pikelets, home-made jam (strawberry or jumbleberry), home-made chutney or tomato relish, and red velvet cupcakes we were treated to three burlesque performances interspersed with demonstrations from a lady who showed us how to do a hairdo - victory rolls, and a make up demonstration. Both had a product or service to sell but it was not a hard sell.
Joining my for today's 366 is my good friend Mona. As I was guessing whether I was aiming the camera at us a lovely lady, Debbie, came over and took this one for me.
I am so looking forward to the next High Tea and Heels event.
A year ago today C was for cyclamen.

On June 1, World Milk Day, Manneken Pis was dressed as a Peul farmer in a Veterinarians Without Borders initiative to highlight the importance of milk to the Peul. The water of the fountain was also replaced by milk, which led to a concentrated cleanup effort afterwards to remove all traces of the milk.

Surf Life Savers dress in a distinctive red and yellow uniform. It helps them to stand out on the beach and in the water and makes them easily identifiable.
34 years ago, on December 27, I asked Kathy to be my wife. This is the smartest thing I have ever done. We go out for dinner to a really fine restaurant every year to calibrate. This year we went to South Lake Tahoe and stayed overnight.

For FGR...Your Hometown
Its a bit late but I wanted to post because it had perfect timing. I don't live in my hometown anymore but I was there for two days.
I went to a wedding last night! I had a lot of fun dancing and meeting new people! I didn't actually know the couple getting married but I knew 3 of the 4 groomsmen and their guests. I took about 250 photos at the wedding, lots to go through. Unfortunatly me and free alcohol isn't the best idea as I spent all of today in bed with a killer hangover.
Henry is taking a "Cotillion" class with his preschool friend Camille. I did have to break the news to him that he would not be learning how to freak dance. Despite being stuck with the foxtrot and the like the opportunity to be in close proximity to sixth grade girls won out over his fear of ties and loafers...
