An image inspired by a peculiar dream that I have been having lately. Dreams are funny in a way... I used to dream very seldom before, but for the past six months or so I am constantly dreaming and find myself to be in strange places quite a lot…
As the title suggests, this is a scene from a dream. It is a composite of ten images taken over the past decade. The muted colors are typical of a dream state, as are subtle distortions of space and time. The two people here look across space and time to themselves as they were eight years ago or eight years in the future.
The strong symbolism of conflict, here between the dangerous, terrible storm and the safe, dry house, between wind and calm, typify the drama of a dream. These opposites help to define and reinforce each other. What is peace without conflict, joy without sorrow?
Our thoughts and fears influence our dreams. One might wonder about the connection between dreams and reality, which at a deep level belong to us equally. Perhaps reality itself may be just another kind of dream, one from which most of us never wake up.

Can't sleep so why not upload a recent edit of an old photo? I don't know if I can't sleep because I'm jobless and stressed, because I miss the feeling of what I thought love was, because I don't feel like I have much "purpose" with my days, or simply because my circadian rhythms are all messed up.
Enjoy this photo and reflect with me, to simpler times before the scars of this world had accumulated, before broken hearts needed mending, before trust had been severed, and when the dream of this man was to take good photos.

Chocolate lily is found in open dry woods and meadows from southern coastal British Columbia eastward to the Okanagan in eastern Washington and south to California. In California, chocolate lily occurs commonly in oak or pine scrub and grasslands below 1800 m in the Klamath Ranges, north Coast Ranges, Cascade, northern Sierra Nevada Foothills, San Francisco Bay area (Hickman 1993).
