So, my camera batteries were sort of dying here. I wasn't even sure if I had gotten the shot. It's kind of off.
Space is what you need
Hide and crawl into your tunnel
Bury yourself deep into the earth
You will live amongst the moles
The ground squirrel will welcome you
It is time but you seek solitude
Days come
Days go
All along the way
I love you so
My 'phone went spazzy when I was in France, so I thought I'd lost all my snaps of the Really Big Donkeys Of Poitou, but this one was lurking in my email outbox after a failed attempt to get moblogular.

10 month old dreadlocks
This is my favorite dread on the left side of my head. It's hard to see, really, but it is truly locked up from top to bottom. One of the very few that have progressed that far as of yet.
At the end of February I stopped brushing the loose hair on the top of my head, partly out of curiosity as to how long it would take it to lock up without doing anything at all to it. At this point I haven't decided whether to keep going with the experiment, but I haven't had a reason to brush it yet so I'll continue on for now.
I don't look the greatest, but I like this photo because it shows my septum piercing (which is currently at 8g), a hint of ears (which after 6 months are finally at 4g) and also my dreads, which are looking amazing for how old they are (9-10 weeks).

Taken right after shaking my hair around - hence all the loose hairs.
This weekend I added some dreadlock extensions to my shortest layer of dreads. My hair now all falls about chin length or a little longer, whereas before the shortest layers were around mid-ear length.
It's been a crazy year! I have lost nearly 60 lbs since the day that my husband and I dreaded my hair 12 months ago. We have traveled, seen friends get married, watched my parents move their lives to another state, my daughter began kindergarten and my littlest prepares to do the same in pre-k. I have gone from a person who would never have considered dying her hair to a person who has had every extreme hair color in the world and who has decided that she should never be anything but a red head!
