The theme for the week at my daughter's pre-school is "Painting with Picasso" so I have done this coloring book page for them. It is the happy, strange place where Picasso and the Easter Bunny meet.

From a recent lifedrawing workshop, 40-minute pose drawn with polychromos pencil. Our model was Xine, a terrific model we hope to see again.
A1, charcoal, chalk. Exploring the way colour and line can capture shape within the human form. Additionally using colour to show depth and to communicate the warmth of the still life. The strokes used were to show an appreciation the voluptuousness of the figure, considering how the human body is a masterpiece of engineering.
This was my first attempt at a half-life size drawing of the nude. I had to stick two sheets of Firenze paper together, unfortunately, the join is pretty visible. I will need to cut it and re-mount the drawing to get rid of the line.
After finishing my conté sketch of this 15 minute pose I had about 5 minutes left. Rather than find a different vantage point I decided to stay where I was and do a pen study of the torso and arms.
The blue ink here is what came through from an ink and water sketch I did last week on the other side of the page.

I used to love sitting in Seoul coffee shops watching people. I couldn't always understand what people were saying however I imagined what the conversations where about from their expressions and body language. It was fun :)
Bournville was a community created by George Cadbury for his workers in his factory nearby. Planned and built from 1893 to 1900, the community was designed to 'alleviate the evils of modern more cramped living conditions' and provided high quality landscapes for its residents, rarely seen in new developments for the working classes at this time. This community was seen as success from many analysts and became an example of a planned settlement, with some of the features of Bournville influencing the creation of the Housing and Town Planning Act of 1909. These slides will have been used in a lecture from JR James, at the Department of Town and Regional Planning at The University of Sheffield between 1967 and 1978 to show the origins of Town Planning itself.
