My daughter Meagan, about 5, drew this for me, the downtube says Monster Fat, I am saying "Yo Man!" Trained that kiddo right! Note that this is before I returned to shaving my legs! Kinda nubby.........

This noble beast is George, the office dog at my former job. he is a fine animal, except for the drool thing. I used "brain Photoshop" to edit the drool.

What to do with a stained placemat when nothing really works to remove the stain? Well, throw it away, or be inspired by the stain(s) and throw more *stains* (aka fabric paint) onto the placemat ...

esse é meio famosinho. Sempre a tal da simetria atuando

A very rough tracing sketch where I had to invent many of the details -- like the odd eyes and nose --because I couldn't find them in the photo, which shows my rank beginner status in drawing and ignorance of anatomy. Even though this doesn't look quite right I've decided to show it anyway, for now, simply as another example so far of my nondoodling fumbling around with iPad art apps. I might replace it with an improved version or, more likely, just delete it in a few days. You can see why I often retreat to patterns or abstract forms that don't have to resemble anything accurately.

By the way, that glass of beer is just as big in the photograph.

Here's the flickr photo my drawing is somewhat based on (my apologies to the photographer for not doing justice to his wonderful picture): www.flickr.com/photos/sashimanek/42102520/

I spend many hours browsing through flickr and looking again and again at my many favorites, which include some amazingly good line drawings. So if you want to see how good digital drawing can be, one place you can start is to look is at my flickr Favorites. For example, don't miss the drawings of Tom Pokinko and of Julio Giacomelli. Then look at their other drawings and the flickr groups linked to their drawings. I should put together some galleries of my favorite flickr drawings.

Lunchtime life drawing session at work. 90 seconds, done with zen brush app on iPad (using a 1 pixel brush). I like the way the pen bleeds when i stop moving the stylus - it has a bit of a felt marker feel.

The bottle of Port I bought at the Mooiberg Padstal. Trying to capture glass with Watercolors in my journal.

This is the beginnings of a very exciting book illustration project I'm lucky to be part of.

Pencil on paper. 8.5x11 in.

Trying to get that Ezra scowl down. It's hard. Sometimes when he gets upset with something, he'll stand there, pouting, with his furrowed brows and slowly look at you off to the side. It's pretty inspiring.

I drew in ink with my left hand and then decided to 'cheat' and add some shading and color with my right hand. The color in this one is digitally altered.
