Taken this Morning in the Glorious Light that lasted for over an hour and a half after sunrise, this is a barrier wall at the beach at Greenwich Point
Erosion has sculpted the soft sedimentary layers into an extraordinary collection of hoodoos, balanced rocks and strangely shaped formations scattered across the barren floor.

Sharjah (Arabic: الشارقة) is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The emirate covers 2,600 km² (1,003 mi²) and has a population of over 800,000 (2008). The emirate of Sharjah comprises the city of Sharjah (the seat of the emirate), and other minor towns and enclaves such as Kalba, Dibba Al-Hisn and Khor Fakkan. Sharjah also claims two islands, Sir Abu Nu’ayr and Abu Musa, with the latter claim being disputed and the island being controlled by Iran.
Historically, Sharjah was one of the wealthiest towns in this region with a settlement in existence for over 5000 years. In the early 18th century Al Qasimi clan (Huwala tribe) established itself in Sharjah, c. 1727 declaring Sharjah independent. On 8 January 1820, Sheikh Sultan I signed the General Maritime Treaty with Britain, accepting a protectorate to keep the Ottoman Turks out. Like four of its neighbours, Ajman, Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah, and Umm al-Qaiwain, its position on the route to India made it important enough to be recognized as a salute state.

Recently discovered self-portrait taken in 2019 during COVID, experimenting with facial hair. The image was created by shaping a single-source light into a noir-style low-key study.

Between the salt and the stone, history is written in layers. Below, the urban echo and skin worn by the tide; above, the pristine whiteness watching over the bay from its grassy throne. A fleeting moment of winter light breaks the storm to remind us that, under the leaden northern sky, decay and elegance always dance together facing the sea.

Lucerne (Luzern), Switzerland in dramatic afternoon light. The light was so great I could not resist taking a tourist shot.
Lucerne (Luzern in German) was originally called Luciaria, which has been interpreted as "place of light" although other interpretations also exist.
This was taken during a short cruise on Lake Lucerne (I really slipped into the role of a tourist for a day) which turned out to be a great one-hour activity to do - beautiful views and an informative audioguide initiating the listeners to local sights and some history, or reviewing it.

Yup, this is an icon in photography terms... I had nice weather for sunset but was just 5 min. LATE !! The light on the arch had just faded when my buddy and myself finally got here. I think this is nice enough to share with you all, but I look forward to going back again in the next year and trying to get a more dynamic version.
Capturing this mandrill in a moment of intense vocalization, I was struck by the raw power and primal energy radiating from this magnificent primate. The dramatic black and white treatment emphasizes the creature's fierce expression and the sculptural quality of its form emerging from the darkness.
I chose to work with dramatic low-key lighting to create this theatrical effect, where the mandrill becomes almost mythical against the deep black background. The monochrome processing strips away any distractions, focusing entirely on the animal's powerful presence and emotional intensity.
What fascinated me was witnessing this display of natural behavior - whether territorial calling, social communication, or simply expressing dominance. There's something both intimidating and mesmerizing about observing such raw, unfiltered animal instinct up close.
My intention was to create more than just a wildlife photograph, but rather a portrait that captures the essence of wildness itself. The dramatic lighting and composition transform this moment into something almost cinematic, revealing the dignity and power inherent in our closest evolutionary relatives.

A wide desert landscape stretches beneath a clear, pale blue sky at sunrise. A rugged line of volcanic mountains dominates the scene, their jagged peaks and layered cliffs glowing with warm golden and rust-orange light where the low sun strikes their faces. Shadows spill gently down the slopes, revealing deep folds, fractured rock, and subtle variations in color from burnt umber to muted purple. In the foreground, a broad desert plain is dotted with low shrubs, grasses, and scattered dark stones, their cooler greens and browns contrasting with the illuminated rock above. The light feels calm and unhurried, emphasizing the scale and stillness of the mountains as they rise sharply from the open desert floor.

Positioned on the rugged headland of Vágar, this perspective looks straight toward one of the North Atlantic’s most dramatic coastal geological features: the iconic sea stacks of Drangarnir, backed by the jagged, tooth-like ridges of Tindhólmur. Rising precipitously from the open waters between Vágar and Tindhólmur, the massive arch of Stóra Drangur stands as an immense natural monument, constantly sculpted by fierce tidal currents and punishing swell.
The timing of the light made this frame particularly compelling. Captured late in the afternoon as a low golden sun broke through broken cloud, the scene was transformed into a study of luminous backlighting and deep contrast. The sun’s flare caught the ocean surface, throwing glittering rim light across the crests of the water and casting the towering basalt face into bold silhouette. Just behind, the razor-sharp spires of Tindhólmur caught the same warm glow, rising through drifting sea mist to add dramatic depth and scale across the sound.
Using an exposure blend helped retain the broad dynamic range necessary for shooting directly into high-contrast coastal light. The delicate textures in the sunlit clouds remains intact without blowing out the highlights, while the dark, shadowed cliffs and textured foreground sea preserve rich tonal separation.
It is an enduring portrait of the Faroes at their wild, majestic best—chiselled stone, turbulent waters, and brief, brilliant moments of Nordic light.

On Saturday evening I decided to go to Sandy Point, Hayling Island, Hampshire to have a go at capturing the sunset.
The weather conditions were not favourable with lots of heavy black clouds but with some breaks on the horizon, the tide was low providing interesting reflected light on the wet sand!
I decided to try and add some drama to the composition by going for a long exposure using a Lee Little Stopper ND filter to provide some movement in the clouds!
74 second exposure using Lee Little Stopper 6 Stop ND filer with 0.6 ND grad over the sky.

When you travel in Mongolia, you are constantly in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing. It might sound strange by it was actually one of highlights of the trip.

I love the way the clouds almost seem to bend over this tree. I wish the tree itself was more photogenic, and that I had been able to get more of it in frame.
