Amtrak ACS-64 no.s 608 and 634 are seen double-heading on train 43, the westbound Pennsylvanian, as it passes under the signal bridge east of North Elizabeth Station.

"Double Trouble:" These double bolts descended simultaneously during a night-time storm at Watson Lake in Prescott, Arizona, moments before I got doused with rain.
The Store That Watched a Century Pass
Tucked along the Lougheed Highway in the quiet community of Dewdney, BC, the Dewdney General Store has been a rural staple since 1904. Originally built by Mr. McIntyre, the single-storey store once faced the CPR tracks, a nod to the railway’s vital role in early settlement. Between 1914 and 1916, a second storey and boomtown facade were added—rumour has it the original structure was slid into place behind the facade using logs. The store doubled as the post office, with Ida Kate Watson serving as postmistress from 1917 to 1948. Her son, Henry, took over afterward, keeping the business in the family. Today, it still operates as a general store and café, with vintage candy, homemade jerky, and even a resident orange tabby named Patches greeting guests. It’s a living piece of Fraser Valley history—modest, enduring, and full of charm.

Decided to bake this today and get a shot for Macro Mondays theme: Chocolate. Thought using powdered sugar to create a heart would be easy. .. was I wrong. Sugar ended up everywhere and heart shapes were distorted. At the end this is what I ended up with. Not what I planned but good enough.
Thopha saccate, the largest Australian species of cicada and said to be the loudest insect in the world. It's at its teneral stage, when it has recently molted and its exoskeleton is yet to harden and get its final colouration. It’s on a Scribbly-gum tree (Eucalyptus haemastoma).

Double CN C44-9Ws 2541 and 2658 race through Spruce Grove with a westbound grain train. It was cool to see these two in amongst the sea of GE Evolution units.
Once T001 completed the see-saw maneuver at Cragin/A5 and parked themselves on M3, the waiting game began. I naively hoped they would run behind Amtrak 339. But after they passed, no lineup appeared. T001 toned up the tower and confirmed that they would run behind Metra 2617.
After 2617 cleared, T001 was off to the races, sorta. Dimensional steel forced their 5000-ft train through the 10-mph cross-overs. And then UP lined an inbound in front of them at Mayfair. All the while the cloud line kept inching north. It would be close and I needed T001 to be nipping the heels of 2617.
Fortunately, the engineer ran on approaches, keeping it tight. About 4 minutes after 2617 passed below, with the sun dipping into the diffuse fringes of clouds, T001's headlight popped around the corner and passed below about 6 minutes later at 1823. When I got back to my car, the clouds had pretty much taken over. Every minute mattered here. Big thanks to all those who provided the assist this day. I'm grateful to finally have some daylight WSOR coverage in the Chicago region.
The Bisti Badlands have always been a location I've wanted to visit. Particularly for it's night photography. I only had 2 quick nights in the Badlands, and all I could think about were clear skies. Luckily both nights provided us with some of the clearest skies for milky way photography and the locations in the badlands provided amazing images.
This is a double shot panorama + blue hour frame. Bottom half of the image was shot during the blue hour for full focus and sharpness. With the second shot being a full milky way shot for the bright night sky.

I saw a bunch of these birds while walking one day. Went back with the camera and couldn't find them. Then I found them at another location and only had my 35mm lens on. Went back with the big lens one day and couldn't find them.
Success today! They're so tiny, so cute, and so quick!
Dec 21 was a big day at Pipeline. The best waves rolled in late afternoon.The left guy got really mad at the right guy for dropping in. They got out of the water right next to me and the word 'f*ck' was shouted quite a few times.
Taken for Macro Monday theme - Glaze. This tiny leaf frog was stuck onto my glass door this morning when I first went to go outside, it was only once I'd taken his photo that I realised I had two reflections caused by the double glazed door. HMM all!
A companion shot to my 'Apartment Reflections' image, this was captured less than a minute walk from that modern 21st century architecture. Those few footsteps back up the canal take us to some classic 19th century British design. Still looks great today.
The building you can see to the left is the Canalside pub and restaurant. The canal actually runs in to the building complete with original bridges. Very cool indeed.

Double Arch in Arches National Park Utah. This park is wonderful to tour and take photos. On this day we started with the sunrise, hiked through out the day and then finished with the sunset at the windows and turret arch.
