M631 pulls for the North end of Walbridge yard with CSX 3194 and 1982 leading the train. What was looking to be a perfect light run down the Toledo Branch was quickly thwarted when their radio quit working and someone was sent to inspect it. The train sat for nearly 2 hours before finally moving again.

I followed this Great Blue Heron for over an hour as he worked the shoreline....and of course he was often in the wrong light when he made his move.
But then it happened.....he struck and I was stunned to see the results.

Have come back from a wonderful holiday in Kiama. We stayed in a superb pet friendly place that over looked the beach from every window. I took the opportunity to do a series on wave motion. This is a double exposure. Olga

They are not the most beautiful birds, but I still love them as I see
them by the lake in my backyard almost every day. They are just as hard-working and meticulous as the herons and egrets. They were on the endangered species list for a little while but have made a nice comeback. In-flight they are just as majestic and elegant as the others, in their white coats. They are a joy to observe with huge wingspans and we are quite glad to see them here in Florida. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder ~ Wood Stork family high in their nest

The Sun has reached the Panamint Range at Badwater in Death Valley National Park. The warm red glow on the towering peaks is reflected in the waters of Lake Manley, the ephemeral waters at the lowest place in North America which was reborn again after record rainfall back in November. Along the shore, what appears to be two separate couples take in the spectacle. Lake Manley has had quite a few rebirths in recent years which seems to be an increasingly frequent occurrence. When the lake is here it is spectacular, and is a mighty fine place to spend a morning with someone who also appreciates the grandeur of the desert.
