Double FUTAB (me and Viki) covered with Cretian sand and Factor 40 sun block (what a waste of money that was!!!)

Lots of eyes here. These two peacock butterflies were dancing in the air together, it might have been courtship. I managed to take a quick shot when they took a short break.

this one was not meant to be a double, not sure how that double happend...

It is found near rivers and lakes and in coastal areas and is widely distributed across North America, from the Aleutian Islands in Alaska down to Florida and Mexico. RiverTown, St Johns, Florida.

It was worried about a light aircraft passing overhead

I made a visit to Mill Lake Park to see what I could find. Not many waterfowl around. That might have been due to the cold wind and they could have been sheltering in the reeds. Sun may have been out but with the wind it was cold. I need to start dressing warmer when I go out.

White beach bokeh.

has created a double image - making me look much more like one of my cousins than the reflection I normally see!

Another just for fun photo. I've been feeling a bit blah about photography lately but this new (to me) technique seems to have sparked everything back up again. This is a photo of the tunnel on Skyline Drive (in the Shenandoah National Park) called Mary's Rock Tunnel. In the winter months the tunnel usually has icicles hanging from it and I can assure you there is no little island of trees in the middle of it! I confess I added the sky in photoshop because the original was just plain white. Anyway... a little fantasy land to escape to. LOL Have a great day everyone!

I had a great day on the water. We shot 4-5 different waterfalls today after a full day of rain. This was my first trip to Double Bridges and I was treated with a lot of water. There were not many places to stand, but I am not complaining. This is a two shot pano so the square format worked best.

Wes' take on this shot. Same day same location:

For a reason unknown hundreds of cormorants as well as a dozens of gray herons were crossing the pond out of nowhere. I suspected a white tailed eagle to be the cause for this fast migration but no eagle was seen for another 30 minutes or so.

A final shot from the Severn Valley Railway's Spring Steam Gala , with Ex-GWR 6430 and 7714 leaving Kidderminster Town with a double-headed service bound for Bridgnorth.

I also found a couple Double-crested Cormorants hunting around shore at Kwomais Point. It is over 200 steps down the stairs on the so called 1001 Steps Trail. The first time I was down it 40 years ago it was a muddy make shift trail. Now it has been cleaned up and made safe but it is still a long walk down and back up.

Waiting impatiently for the storm to reach downtown, I decided to head over to Burnham Harbor to take in a different view of the city. I spotted the front of the squall line and took a couple of quick shots, and then rushed back into my car just as the sky opened up and unleashed the fury that I saw just a few moments ago. I wish I could've captured the scene as well as I saw it in person.

Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey is such an amazing place. I saw so many cormorants the two days I visited, but this photo was my favorite.

"Double-crested cormorants are gregarious birds that are almost always near water. Their main two activities are fishing and resting, with more than half their day spent on the latter. When at rest, a cormorant will choose an exposed spot on a bare branch or a windblown rock, and often spread its wings out, which is thought to be a means of drying their feathers after fishing. (Cormorants have less preen oil than other birds, so their feathers can get soaked rather than shedding water like a duck’s. Though this sounds like a liability, this is thought to be an adaptation that helps cormorants hunt underwater more effectively.)" www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Double-crested_Cormorant/life...

There is actually a double oxbow along the park with an East Bow and a West Bow. NASA has some interesting satellite images of the area online.https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/83875/the-loop This particular vantage point can be reached via passenger car.
