The double-crested cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus) is a member of the cormorant family of seabirds. It habitat is near rivers and lakes as well as in coastal areas, and is widely distributed across North America, from the Aleutian Islands in Alaska down to Florida and Mexico.

This is a collaboration betwen my boyfriend (noug4t) and I. I went to my job alone and put the film in my minolta, I took pics of stuff on my way...when the film was finished I gave it to him, he then put it in his leica and took pics over mine. So those 5 pics are from that film.
On this one I took the flowers, and he took the parking.
A second rainbow can just be made out at the top right. Note that the colours are inverted in the second rainbow and the area between the rainbows is darker than the area under the main rainbow.

The other day, I went and tried the new Double Down from KFC. It was okay, I ended up doing a small write up on it.

Lindsey Oaks and Enchantez had a bit of a struggle at the Double Corners during the Cross Country test at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event. The Event was held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
The Double Corners is tricky...coming off the previous jump, the horse and rider go down a slope into a right turn to set up for this complex. With only four strides to set up for the second fence, Oaks and Enchantez miss this one.

a memorial to my garndother who died a year ago at the age of 96.
When I was a kid she would buy Alpha Bits every time I visited her.They would be there in the pantry.
Later we would drink tea and play scrabble.The alpha bits tradition went away but the tea and scrabble were a mainstay up intil the last year of her life.
I should also have a plate of cookies,a P.D. James novel or two or three lying around opened in the process of being read and some Laura Secord chocolates but that might be a little too much.
(The roses were sent from my mother yesterday in her memory)
She really was a little enclave of comfort and good for us growing up.
She also was instrumental in smuggling some cheap baskeball shoes across the border in the bottom of a bag of groceries.

The double-wattled cassowary is one of the largest birds in the world. Weighing as much as 128 pounds, only the ostrich is heavier. Flightless birds, cassowaries are covered in coarse black feathers, with the exception of the skin on the head and throat which is brightly colored red and blue. These coarse feathers are an adaptation to the thick vegetation of the rain forest where cassowaries live. The flight feathers are reduced to five or six quills on both sides of their body that protect the bird when it is traveling through the undergrowth. One of the cassowary's most distinguishing features is the large protuberance on the top of its head called the casque.
