this one was not meant to be a double, not sure how that double happend...

Lots of eyes here. These two peacock butterflies were dancing in the air together, it might have been courtship. I managed to take a quick shot when they took a short break.

I'm sure it hasn't gone unnoticed that I've been revisiting some of my older images recently, initially with an intention of clearing some much needed hard disk space but which has since turned into a bit of an image rescue operation, most of the time whilst holding my head in my hands and uttering the word "Seriously!?*".. and maybe a few other expletives to go with it. This image in particular previously looked like it had been daubed with a 2" decorator's brush rather than a fine art sable, totally unworthy of this beautiful location. Less is more has never been a truer statement!

On the other side of this peak looking out towards the north west lay the many coffee plantations that make up Doi Chaang coffee, without question the makers of the finest organic espresso I personally have had the good fortune to taste. But this doesn't mean to say you can pull up at any Doi Chaang coffee outlet and expect the same perfection. For that experience you must go to the actual Doi Chaang farm shop in the mountains of Chiang Rai the moment it opens when the beans are still warm from their earlier roasting.

As soon as you walk in and see the shiny 4 headed semi-automatic 'La Marzocco' espresso machine you know they are serious bearing in mind that this isn't an elaborate outlet in the middle of a busy mall and you may even find yourself surrounded by the workers from the fields too. The first time I drank coffee here I was already convinced but it wasn't the first one that impressed me the most, it was the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cup which were identical to the first. Considering that each one was made by a different barrister (yes, i was watching!) this takes some doing. Yes, I'm an addict and can tell you it rarely happens unless you go into one of those insanely anal espresso outlets where the barrister doesn't even look you in the face whilst carefully handing you your coffee their attention entirely focused on whether the crema has too many bubbles or not!

Thank you for grinding to a halt here :)

It was worried about a light aircraft passing overhead

I made a visit to Mill Lake Park to see what I could find. Not many waterfowl around. That might have been due to the cold wind and they could have been sheltering in the reeds. Sun may have been out but with the wind it was cold. I need to start dressing warmer when I go out.

I know, I just posted an Elk silhouette sunset. But at least I changed it up this time and did a pic with 2 bull elk.

If I post another I'll do at least 3 bulls.

If the number of elk increases with each pic, does that make it even more repetitive, or more fun?

Either way, thanks for stopping by. Your comments and favs are always appreciated.

Another just for fun photo. I've been feeling a bit blah about photography lately but this new (to me) technique seems to have sparked everything back up again. This is a photo of the tunnel on Skyline Drive (in the Shenandoah National Park) called Mary's Rock Tunnel. In the winter months the tunnel usually has icicles hanging from it and I can assure you there is no little island of trees in the middle of it! I confess I added the sky in photoshop because the original was just plain white. Anyway... a little fantasy land to escape to. LOL Have a great day everyone!

I had a great day on the water. We shot 4-5 different waterfalls today after a full day of rain. This was my first trip to Double Bridges and I was treated with a lot of water. There were not many places to stand, but I am not complaining. This is a two shot pano so the square format worked best.

For a reason unknown hundreds of cormorants as well as a dozens of gray herons were crossing the pond out of nowhere. I suspected a white tailed eagle to be the cause for this fast migration but no eagle was seen for another 30 minutes or so.

A final shot from the Severn Valley Railway's Spring Steam Gala , with Ex-GWR 6430 and 7714 leaving Kidderminster Town with a double-headed service bound for Bridgnorth.

I also found a couple Double-crested Cormorants hunting around shore at Kwomais Point. It is over 200 steps down the stairs on the so called 1001 Steps Trail. The first time I was down it 40 years ago it was a muddy make shift trail. Now it has been cleaned up and made safe but it is still a long walk down and back up.

Waiting impatiently for the storm to reach downtown, I decided to head over to Burnham Harbor to take in a different view of the city. I spotted the front of the squall line and took a couple of quick shots, and then rushed back into my car just as the sky opened up and unleashed the fury that I saw just a few moments ago. I wish I could've captured the scene as well as I saw it in person.

As well as the 4 freights working through the area that morning, First Great Western also ran back-to-back HST power cars, 43022 & 43003 on a test run. The pair are seen heading back South at Langford Bridge, Aller, with the (0Z77) 10.50 Laira-Laira via Newton Abbot.
