Music Monday is an annual national event, which highlights the importance of music in our lives and especially in our schools. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Music Monday brings together thousands of students, musicians, parents and community members across the country to celebrate the gift of music in our lives, on the same day at the same time.
This year, Vancouver was chosen as the official location where the Music Monday song will be broadcast from, and the nationwide performance, led by Maestro Bramwell Tovey of the VSO, also had a live feed of Hadfield playing from Edmonton.
Dozens of students from a wide variety of musical backgrounds met early on Monday morning to rehearse together for the big performance. The Jamieson Elementary Strings, Tecumseh Elementary Ukulele Band, and Magee Secondary Choir played alongside Seaquam Secondary Choir (Delta), Seycove Secondary Concert Band (North Vancouver), and special guests the UBC Brass Quintet.
The Music Monday song, entitled I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing) was co-commissioned by the coalition and CBC Music, and written by Commander Chris Hadfield and Barenaked Ladies front-man Ed Robertson.

A collection of recipes copied from Grandmother Pearl. She was an amazing woman with spunk and fire. Truly a great southern lady in a class well above the rest of us.
Please if you print and pass on any of my Grandmother's recipes include her name & some of them have the persons name from who she received them from.

Thanks to the help of several Hungarian speakers, I could make up what is described in this article from 1930. So, here it what it says:
Béla Klein was sitting in a café when a High ranking officer, Denes Dobak (accompanied by other soldiers), who was also in this café, asked a band of gypsies to play an antisemitic song called "Erger Berger" Here is how a website refers to this song: ""Erger,
Berger, Sósberger, minden zsidó gazember" (Erger, Berger, Sósberger, all jews are thugs.)"
Béla Klein, my grandfather, and also a 36-months WWI verteran who is told to have earned several medals, ordered the band to stop "because there are jews here" (my note: he was Jewish as demonstrated by the other documents posted in this set). The officer told my grandfather to go outside to settle the matter. A far-right journalist (Laszlo Zsolnai-Grosz) who was present struck my grandfather's head (who bled as a consequence). My grandfather reacted by suing him and by challenging the officer to a duel (as was customary when offences involved soldiers). The officer accepted and Bela eventually won the duel (both protagonists came out slightly wounded). They left together. The trial against the journalist was yet to take place at the time of the writing of this article.
Other info:
"I will try to answer your questions, although my Hungarian is limited.
Klein was at the table with a woman, but no name or relationship is mentioned. THere are no dates mentioned in this article and some of it is hard to read, but I have to believe this happened in the early 40's. It does not say where he he was stationed or which front he was on.
The motive for the fight is unclear, this part I don't really understand but to the best of my ability this is what happened, A song was being sung and a high ranking officer said to stop singing it because there are jews here. After someone asked Klein to step outside of the bar for a moment and thats when he was attacked.
He did fight back and both parties were bloodied, the two officers were made to shake hands and left the premises peacefully but another involved who was a civilian was going to press charges against the military. Sorry. But I hope this explains something to you.
Klein said to stop the music, because there are jews there. Maybe he tought himself.(Sorry I understand the hungarian text, but I can't very well English:)
The song was the cuse of the fight and a bickering with the officer.

It is basically about a fight in a bar between Klein Bela and another sargent in the army.
It says Klein was a sargent in the army and was a reservist, but had been at the front for 36 months and had been awarded several medals for his service.
Hope this helps.
