Learning how to better use the curves adjustment in PS. It helped me get the colors the way I remembered when I was taking this shot. Yes, the sky really was that beautifully blue!
The boat was illuminated from the back by the slowly setting sun which contrasted singularly against the menacing dark clouds hanging heavily over the lake in the sky ahead. The place is called Nyon and is situated 1/3 of the way from Geneva to Lausanne in Switzerland.
There are a lot of mountain and water and cloud pictures here. Basically the docks are a system of loading ore, which contains about a quarter-million dollars worth of gold, silver, platinum etc per big bag (you could probably put about two of these bags in the back of a pickup truck). The ore is loaded into the holds of massive ships which take it to be refined in Japan, in one of a handful of places where the very complicated and specialized procedure can take place. The metals are present only on the molecular level, so there's no way of extracting them without these kinds of specialized systems, and that's why it's all shipped to Japan.

This was the first dock dogs competition I had the honour of seeing...had fun taking photos.
Challenged with getting these dogs in focus...especially since my camera has a VERY slow focus time. Found my best results with manual focus, and pre 'guessing' how far away I thought the dogs might be...lol.

Charles Dickens set part of his novel "Oliver Twist" east of Shad Thames. When Bill Sykes falls to his death it is thought that he lands in the mud of St Saviours Dock.
Portsmouth Historic Dock:- Part of Portsmouth Harbour and within the Royal Navy dockyard. I have been wanting to come here for years. My biggest want when visiting was to see HMS Victory. Well I did and cracked my head several times, but every smack was worth it. What a fantastic ship. But there was also The Warrior, Dock Cruise, Mary Rose exhibition. Sadly the Mary Roase cannot be viewed as they are building a new lottery funded building around her. There was of course the Royal Navy museum both past and present. It was a grand day out.
