For Christmas my sister got me a reed diffuser. Which I love, because nice scents make me feel nice and comfy. It's one of those things that you never quite feel a hankering for--at least not enough to buy for yourself--but when you receive it as a gift... it's wonderful.

Have you ever been some place and in desperate need of a diffuser for your on-camera flash?
You've heard about using a biz card but you've got nothing to hold it in place?
Well here's my mod, which occured to me in just such a situation.
Rear detail of mounting of business card as a onboard flash diffuser/bounce card. The 'ears' cand be opened up and pulled firmly to form a triangular anchor which is surprisingly stable.

This last prototype uses Carbon fiber strips like a dome tent, white ripstop nylon for the diffuser (and the inside surface), and black duck cloth. The connection is made with 12gauge aluminum armature wire

Bought a diffuser from Jessops the other day and had an hour and a half to kill while my wife hosted a hen champagne reception in our flat.
Simple shot, loved the colours. What a difference a bit of sunshine makes.

Stuffed toys being so much more patient than live animals, my daughter's well-worn favorite, Bowa, agreed to a photo shoot on a black sheet of construction paper. In this sequence I'm playing with diffusing or bouncing the flash of my Sony P100.

I couldn't resist capturing this image. This is drapery is covering the skin of the Hirshhorn Museum in DC. I'm standing a few blocks away. The day is cloudy--no direct sunlight--Diffused.
I enjoy the work of Richard Ross. The diverse subject matter is unique in that one photo is the antithesis of another. This is true not just with the subject matter but also the lighting. Natural sunlight and fluorescent light couldn't be more different.
