Yesterday I had two different, and completely unique, encounters with great blue herons.
This one (which I tripled with Photoshop and poetic license) was on a quiet pond, at dawn After sitting silently for 30+ minutes waiting for it to fly, I almost missed it. The second, flew at my head, being chased by 3 angry little red-wing black birds, while I was riding my bike. Closest I've ever been to one.Almost tipped over ;-)

At a loss for inspiration I thought I would experiment with cardboard boxes, shooting from different angles to see what effects I could get. In the end I went for this photo, I was trying to create something interesting out of something so simple, although not a great photo I quite like the obvious difference in the 2 planes and how they are seperated by the black line, the texture of the card and the dof.

...Different camera. Sigma DP2M, iso 100. Very minimally processed. Biggest change from out of camera image is the square format crop, along with some shadow detail reduction to make it a bit more contrasty.

I liked this little guy looking for his own light off to the side. Overexposed, should have compensated for the sun.
Different day! Totally different light! Got it straight on, got the whole thing in just! but no blue sky this time.
Here many different ways neon and led signs are designed can be spotted. Different sizes, colours, typography etc are all unique to specific signs that portrays the kind of business it is.
This one is tiny. Its blossom is no more than an inch in width and it lives in a tiny pot on our kitchen windowsill. Every winter, it springs into new life. We see the buds appear and eagerly await the opening of the tiny, perfect blossoms, which happened one day this past week.

Ghent City Hall is a complex of contiguous building blocks erected at different times, in the most diverse styles.
The oldest building in the whole complex is the old Keure house dating from 1482.
At the beginning of the 16th century, architects Keldermans and De Waghemaeker were called upon to draw up plans for a new house at La Keure; of these plans, only about a quarter was built, namely the current flamboyant Gothic building body occupying the north face of the quadrilateral and the corner of Hoogpoort and Botermarkt. In 1580, this building was extended eastward on the Hoogpoort, in the form of a renaissance style wing, called Bollaertskamer. At the end of the 16th century, it was the turn of the parish sheriffs to build a sumptuous edifice: the Renaissance wing occupying the east face of the block, on the Botermarkt, and part of the south face.
The building work of this building, progressing with difficulty, and successively using several architects, lasted until the 18th century. It was restored and remodeled in the 1870s, especially with the participation of Violet-le-Duc.
This, is obviously not an entirely sharp photo. And at the time I was trying to take it - I was trying to get it sharper, but it just wasn't having it. The lighting was too off and I guess I just don't have THAT steady of a hand.
But in all honestly, I love this photo because it is so blurred and soft in most areas. :).
