Enabling conditions – monitoring Plenary Session 4.
Objectives
• Show that different monitoring systems are vital to implementing results-based mechanisms;
• Promote integration between monitoring mechanisms to avoid duplication of efforts.
The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is hosting the Sixth edition of the Mediterranean Forest Week (VIth MWF) at the Grand Hills Hotel, Broumana, on 1–5 April 2019. The weeklong event brings together policy and decision makers, forest administrators, researchers, practitioners, donors, civil society organizations, and social and environmental based non–governmental organizations to share and promote the use of forest–based solutions to assist Mediterranean countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.

Same beach, different year. Another lazy january day in Rio.

A few minutes after this shot, the sun was setting, and people began clapping at it.
Been a while since I last saw that.
The forest, whatever its geolocation, consists of different layers.
The main and most notable is the tree layer that comprises trees with tall trunks, forming, through the continuity of their crowns, a vast canopy of green that restricts the amount of sunlight reaching the ground.
The next layer, which supports the biodiversity, is the undergrowth. Accustomed to reduced light, the plants form a dense carpet preserving humidity.
Together, they are essential and mutually necessary – the trees protect the undergrowth from the sun and drought, while the undergrowth helps tree seeds to grow, helping to keep the soil and subsoil rich in nutrients essential to trees. It is a true symbiosis between the plant strata that permits the continuity of forests.
This garden seeks to reproduce the forest in a reduced area, exuberantly, with miniature trees that develop on an upper layer, contrasting with the forest undergrowth, which is on a real scale. The view is disrupted and divided by natural soil covered in vegetation and by a miniature forest.
On entering the plot, visitors discover a forest of bonsais planted on a platform at eye level to help us view and understand it.
On the ground, visitors observe a dense flora characteristic of undergrowth. The trunks emerge from the base supporting the miniature forest that, in turn, provides the necessary shade for the development of the lower level of plants.
The ecosystem recreated here shows living organisms and the symbiosis of the micro and macro scales, offering visitors an ideal place to contact nature and gain inspiration. The back and forth between the two continuous scales – the reduced scale of the trees and the real scale of the undergrowth – disrupt the visitor’s perception of the forest.
It is a play of dimensions, representations and contrasting relations of the two realities that appear together in the forest.

This is a different gall on Goldencup Oak aka Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis) in the Fagaceae plant family. It's a bud gall, different from the stem galls I've shown before. You can see the exit hole where the critter got out. Or did some other critter get in? (San Marcos Pass, 26 October 2012)
I don't know what critter makes this gall, but it looks like the gall of a Cynipid Gall wasp in the family Cynipidae of the order Hymenoptera. It has the same shape but different colors as the Beaked Twig Gall Wasp (Disholcaspis plumbella). Compare this photo.
Epic fail with the tag, but other than that... These were SUPER soft stuffed elmos and cookie monsters in JCPenney today.
I've been going through my old photos recently, taking a fresh look at all those that _aren't_ sweeping landscapes. I was quite taken by this one, a pano crop of a macro I'd taken of some rocks in Watchet. I enjoy just looking at it, even though it isn't really of anything.

The natural lighting shots were difficult, I wanted to challenge myself to try something different. One of the more "crisp" shots I took.
The Transformers Legacy Evolution Deadeye Duel 2 Pack is no stranger to me. Yeah, sure these were ne characters, but the actual toys themselves were retools/reoclours of existing ones.
Autobot Javalin is a retool of the Deluxe Class Arcee from the Bumblebee Movie line. I don't know about others, but I loved this mould. It's smaller than your typical Deluxe, but it's got some nice articulation, curves, and an Alt mode that.. truthfully doesn't look like the movie, but at the same time is acceptable. My favourite of the two, the main reason I even got this two back, which is why it hurts when I found out this is the figure that was gimpy in the set.
Her overall design reminds me of one of the Hard Suits out of Bubblegum Crisis. Let see how many people actually get that reference.
Like with a lot of Deluxe class Fembots, this one has a decent sized backpack, but at least it doesn't look horrible.. It is, however, very disruptive to balance of the figure. The thing twist on this figure works better than United Windblade, but it's still not a true twist so I can't pull off all the poses I'd like to. Legs are also kind of bulky, affecting overall leg articulation. She's also got short stumpy arms with no wrist articulation, which is again pretty typical for the size. Posing options are there, but you'll need to work at it to get the pose, and to get the figure to stay upright.
Transformation results in a Cybertronian Cycle mode of sorts, which of course very closely resembles Arcee's, but there are cosmetic changes due to colour and backpack changes.
Now, Kaskade is a different story. She's a retool of what is probably one of the most hated Fembot moulds in the last decade or so, which was a retool of a Fembot that people hated WAAAAAAAAY BACK during the Titans Return lineup. The headsculpt is decent and remids me very much of Shadow Striker, but the overall form of the figure is like an ugly box.
Making matters worse is that this ugly box has no waist articulation, though it does have better ankles than Autobot Javelin. Upper and lower body areas feature large amounts of bulk that get in the way of articulation and posing. Elbows and knees are more limited than Autobot Javelin. Even transformation results in basically a box on wheels.
Both figures feature accessories that allow you to form firearms, though in the case of Kaskade she has more options versus the one rifle mode of Autobot Javelin's weapons. And to the surprsie of nobody, Paint is pretty standard (where needed) and Build, well, they can take taht gimpy ankle and suck it.
