You can see the White House and if you look closely you can see the two secret service agents on top of the building...

Day 7/365 - The Fisherman

This is a ceramic piece on a lamp in my house

Different examples of North American passenger cars from different eras.

Here are two shots of a different gall on the apex of a leaf of Scrub Oak (Quercus berberidifolia) in the Fagaceae plant family. It doesn't seem to match anything in Ron Russo's "Field Guide to Plant Galls" (UC Press, 2006) or Joyce Gross's fine California Oak Galls website. Maybe it's a new one? It looks quite distinctive with that crown of points around the top. (San Marcos Pass, 18 November 2014)

I'm pretty sure this is the gall of a Cynipid Gall Wasp (Cynipidae, Hymenoptera). There was a tiny exit hole on the bottom, so I figured the gall was empty. I removed the leaf and tried to pose it for a photo, but it fell away and got lost. See my [Next] photo.

These two chicks look very different, but presumably were from the same litter? The one on the left is a mallard chick but the one on the right looks as much like a cygnet as anything! There were some domestic white ducks mixed in with the mallards on this pond, so I assume these are the result of a cross?

Different angles and edits of the same twin bridges crossing the Dan River in Danville, VA.

In poker there are different names used for some cards which one should understand when playing atqueen poker or in any casino site for that matter. The term deuce means Two (2) while trey is for three (3) while a combination of Ace234and 5 is the wheel. This is the lowest possible straight combination of the hand.

Looking out of the hotel window at Ibis London City is quite interesting to me. This view is definitely an improvement on the view from the room we stayed in previously, which looked onto a building site.

I like how I can see the world go by. I also like the different juxtapositions between the modern City of London and the more traditional inner London of the Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Met Paul for lunch today in the City. Prior to meeting him I took a wander down to the Petticoat Lane market - as the name suggests it is a clothes market. England World Cup clothes were in evidence and I spotted an "I Love London" hoodie - not quite the same design as I seem to have seen on every overseas teenage student - but a representative example all the same. I didn't buy. I like London, but can't say I love the place.

Different paths to take in the middle of the corn maze.

Something a bit different... I took this using my iPhone whilst en route to Oxford earlier in the week. The train was just pulling in so it was a bit of a snatched shot... I completed the B&W conversion in Photoshop - just in case you were wondering.

When you walk through Liverpool, it feels like you're walking past different eras.

Same Kind of Different as Me- a book title written by Ron Hall and Denver Moore..

Burgundy and black tunic made from cotton and linen.

It has:

• black linen tapered bottom - shorter in front, long in back - great for layering

• funky bracketed front seams with a hangy flap thing

• three-quarter length sleeves with long flaring cuffs

• flattering arched waist panel made of ribbed cotton jersey

Sewn with visible serged threads in dark graphite gray and dark mustard gold.

Le differenze sono tante....

We stopped at a little rest stop along the U.S. highway we took back toward Madison and had a nice little picnic lunch of sandwiches we'd picked up from the Prairie du Chien Piggly-Wiggly. I'd stopped at this same rest stop during my lightning drive across Wisconsin last February and had taken a picture of this farm at the base of the hill. Remember this picture? This is what that spot looks like in its summer colors.
