Theme n°2: "Different"

My first participation in the PhotoMarathon of Nice (France) on June 9th 2012.
12 hours, 12 themes, 12 pictures.
The rules are simple:
- Shoot the photos in order
- No post-processing
- No crop
- Return the SD with only the 12 pics before 9pm (Started at 9am)
It was a long and hard day, but very exciting and funny too!
I couldn't focus on technical, because of the time. We were rushing all the day, trying to find a subject for each theme, so i'm a bit disappointed by my pictures, but it was a great challenge and i made it!
Next time, i'll try to make nicer pictures and be more creative :D
TT took > a photo of this same person at the same time as I did. The light catches her face differently and the colours are less flattering for her in this light than in my husband's portrait of her ..... (which is quite funny)
In my picture the shaved eyebrows look quite uncomfortable and not so delicate. This shot emphasises the non-japanese nature of the girl beneath really.
My wonderful companion guiding me about Tavistock made an observation that records such as census enumerations didn't always correlate well with modern street numbering. She's right, of course. I already knew that. What I also know is that sometimes an immovable landmark fixes things geographically no matter what the schedule or street number shows.
That's the case here. On that side of the road the low wall is the boundary of a longstanding estate. My granny lived adjacent. On the side where I'm standing was where her future husband grew up. With the number of upstairs, downstairs, front and back combinations of properties inevitably rented and no fixed reference I cannot be sure where he lived.
It's different here. What was a quaint village has been subsumed by a bloated Plymouth. From here to the right is substantially unchanged apart from the replacement of thatch with slate and so on. That's where he lived. Over there? This is different. This jarring, frankly ugly block is in utter discord with everything else of this ancient place. Nevertheless, this physical location is where she lived with her parents, with her sisters and her short-lived brother.
I'm back to talking with dead relatives.

We were delighted to discover these lovely dandelion sculptures
on the outskirts of a parking lot in beautiful downtown Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. A nice touch, I should say, as far as city art. Here, I caught them on a perfectly fine summer's day, playing with the sun, and nicely enhanced by a positive touch of favorable lens flare.

Lucky Star theme park is the first and only place that I have visited and recall what it was like before it was abandoned. I had my 8th birthday party there and would visit sometimes with friends and family as a child, especially as it was in my hometown of Aradippou. It was strange to explore the place and remember what it used to be like and all the fun memories I had there. What I felt with seeing Lucky Star in the state it has become isn't even a glimmer of what others feel when they see their childhood homes, schools, towns etc, abandoned due to war. Even worse, when they are forbidden to see because of military occupation of these places - Aradippou.

Every night we get a different kind of sunset. Not that my XPeria manages to capture it to it's full extent but I am still amazed daily.
These trucks are all similar and all different. They look very cheerful lined up at a rest stop, and I couldn't stop looking for their similarities and differences.

Day 76 of 365 - Inspection
Today I had two photos printed at two different locations to compare the printing quality. After inspecting them, I have decided that Walgreens will no longer be printing any of my photos...hahaha...Of course, I went in to this "experiment" knowing that Image Finishers was going to come out far superior! I was right!
