When I was a kid I like the Knights of Columbus outfits, but I thought they were old Naval Admirals like I saw pics of in my history books. Plus, that's what my dad told me they were, but he didn't always tell the truth. When I went to my first communion at church they formed an arch in the aisle with swords raised over us. My dad said they did that so they could cut our heads off if we screwed around on the way to the alter to get our wafers..one nod from the priest, and that's it for me! I was good after that.

Oh...and I like the shriners alot as well. Especially when they had on their cool outfits with baggy pants, sashes, short fancy jackets, a fez on their heads and expecially their semitars! I used to think they were from the Sahara Desert and just came over to be in our parades. I was disappointed when I found out they were just a club of local guys :(

Masons aren't as cool as the other two. They have fancy necklaces with boomerangs on them and some kind of English hat. But they do have secret handshakes...so they're cool too :)

A different way of seeing the flowers.

Some more of the shots I took on 31st Oct at the NRM featuring Locos in a different light. It was good to see but virtually impossible to take photographs because of the number of people that were there. Even at 6:30 there was a 200 yard queue to get in.

These are a different white-spored Mycena mushroom growing from dead wood of Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia). Maybe it's Mycena galericulata? I don't know what kind of Mycena they are, but I can recognize new green shoots of native California Bedstraw (Galium californicum on the left. (San Marcos Pass, 17 December 2012)

I found these two seed heads on my walk. The left one is the seed head from a Coltsfoot and the one on the right a Dandelion. They are very similar but when seen side by side the differences can be seen. I know they are not strictly flowers but they were produced from flowers.

Both are virtually sooc , cropped a bit in Serif then put together in Picasa.

I put that shot into the X tagged group, but after I finished and I went through them to check before I delete them I saw this again and applied my b/w script. It just looks stunning.
