For this pinhole test I've taken three different views of a carved Tasmanian Devil outside the Wool Centre in Ross. Each were taken with the Nikon D850 and the Thingyfy pinhole adapter. I call this a test because I wanted to see how this object in deep shade would appear with the right exposure.

With a digital camera the aperture is set to the size of the pinhole which registers as f/0 in the camera. Focus is impossible because there is an unlimited depth of field, and it will be soft. In any case the viewfinder doesn't work. Manual exposure is required. One can then either set the ISO high (but this brings with it noise in the dark shadows), or on a tripod set a long exposure. I find the best results come from using 100 ISO as a base setting and then adjusting the exposure time to match the light. Pinhole is about hands on trial and error. But once you get a feel for the light conditions it is possible to make accurate guesses at exposure times and your biggest challenge will be framing the shot.

Once again the effect is not unlike that of a Holga toy camera or even some early Polaroids.

I pass this field of small horses every week on my way to visit my Mom who is in a Seniors Home. I always seem to be in a rush either to get to the visit or to return home. May 7th was a bit different as I had extra time and so I stopped and managed a photo or two. Nothing special about this photo except that it is a bit different then what I would normally post.

Just as a side note my Mother celebrated her 93rd Birthday on May 27.

Something different , I look forward to your thought on this one, I really like the strong flow and thought that b&w work well here, thanks a lot for taking the time to comment.

today's underwear. it's a totally different world these days the modern way of of dressing. it's all practical and boring not only the out clothes such as leggings baggy tops or jeans and a practical blouse. but even the underwear is dull. t shirt bras yawn boy briefs still yawn. seems like they can't have a little luxury close to them anymore. OK garter belts and stockings are a pain granted. but nice nickers and matching bra why ever not. slips are a thing of the past I don't think you will find a pretty one in any highstreet shop.

maybe it's just me maybe it's just the male fantasy thinking those items are what I should wear.

given this a slightly high coloured look to mimic an old advertisement or girly magazine image .

Star clusters are common structures throughout the Universe, each made up of hundreds of thousands of stars all bound together by gravity. This star-filled image, taken with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), shows one of them: NGC 1866.

NGC 1866 is found at the very edges of the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small galaxy located near to the Milky Way. The cluster was discovered in 1826 by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop, who catalogued thousands of stars and deep-sky objects during his career.

However, NGC 1866 is no ordinary cluster. It is a surprisingly young globular cluster situated close enough to us that its stars can be studied individually — no mean feat given the mammoth distances involved in studying the cosmos! There is still debate over how globular clusters form, but observations such as this have revealed that most of their stars are old and have a low metallicity. In astronomy, ‘metals’ are any elements other than hydrogen and helium; since stars form heavier elements within their core as they carry out nuclear fusion throughout their lifetimes, a low metallicity indicates that a star is very old, as the material from which it formed was not enriched with many heavy elements. It’s possible that the stars within globular clusters are so old that they were actually some of the very first to form after the Big Bang.

In the case of NGC 1866, though, not all stars are the same. Different populations, or generations, of stars are thought to coexist within the cluster. Once the first generation of stars formed, the cluster may have encountered a giant gas cloud that sparked a new wave of star formation and gave rise to a second, younger, generation of stars — explaining why it seems surprisingly youthful.

Neuer Zollhof at Medienhafen, is a prominent landmark designed by American architect Frank Gehry as part of the redeveloped port of Düsseldorf, Germany.

The building complex consists of three separate buildings (two of which are visble in this photo on the left). Floorplans and facades of all three buildings curve and lean, reason for them being likened to leaning towers. The tallest building is 14 stories high and just under 50 m tall. Each building has a different facade cladding - the outer two in white plaster and red brick respectively; the central building's stainless steel facade (barely visible) reflects material and shapes of its two neighbour buildings.

Something very different for me. Shot with a wide lens on a very bright day with hard blue skies and then heavily processed to create the dark sky effect, as if shot at night. I just liked the strong lead-in line taking the eye through the water features to the isolated single woman waiting in the square in front of the Imaginarium Dome. Does it work?

I believe this is a Sedge Frog but there are a few different varieties and as it was siting tight, I couldn't quite see all its markings to be certain. This information is from the Sunshine Coast Council.

The flower is a beautiful big Lotus.

"As a place to start I cast my eye around my own suburban garden. My gaze falls to a tiny pale brown frog, barely more than a centimetre long, sitting silently atop the fronds of a fishbone fern Nephrolepis cordifolia (yes, it's a weed – I have, after all, never claimed to be a good gardener) (image 1). Many coastal residents will be familiar with the high-pitched ‘cr-e-e-e-k’ or ‘cr-e-e-e-k pip’ of the eastern sedge frog Litoria fallax, and that is indeed the delightful little frog that is hiding among the fishbone ferns.

There are a number of physical features that distinguish the eastern sedge frog from superficially similar coastal species, including a dark band between the eye and nostril, a white jaw stripe and usually orange inner thighs as seen in the photo at right (image 2). However, the general body colour can vary widely from fawn to green and multiple combinations of those two colours, likely influenced by temperature and colour of surroundings. Occasionally unusual variations can occur, such as the frog to the right who was living in a shallow black-lined garden pond (image 3). Usually, however, colour variations shown in images 4 – 12 are more typical.

If you live near a pond or lake you have probably heard the cheerful chorus of males throughout spring and summer, which often intensifies before and after rain. During this time, competition between males for prime calling positions on vegetation can become intense and it is not unusual to see two males wrestling and jostling for occupation of the highest spot on emergent vegetation.

Female eastern sedge frogs lay their eggs in a series of small clusters, each containing up to 35 eggs. After 10 – 15 seconds the female will move to a new location and start the process again. Males cup their feet around each cluster to fertilise them after laying. Researchers have recorded females laying as many as nine clusters in the space of 28 minutes. Usually this process results in around 200-300 eggs in multiple clusters but can be result in as many as 1,300 from a single female. After fertilisation, the egg cluster will either adhere to vegetation or sink into the water, where they will hatch after three to five days.

Along with graceful tree frogs Litoria gracilenta, eastern sedge frogs frequently become accidental travellers huddled in banana bunches and other plants and produce. However, while this little frog might be one of our backyard treasures, its arrival in new areas can increase the risk of disease if they are released into other native frog populations."

I love this Megan Mckenna dress from Miss Pap, a different angle here, with no glimpse of the seams of the gorgeous Oroblu seamed pantyhose but i love this angle in terms of how striking this pose is in very high heels...kind of why heels are so wonderful pushing all areas of the body into the right place.. love your comments as always, just a couple of seconds to comment really does make it all worthwhile. So thanks to those who always make such a wonderful effort and if you haven't before i'd love to hear from you now..Enjoy xx
