A helicopter ride over Sossusvlei offers great landscape photo opportunities abound in the cool of the morning, with dawn’s soft light first illuminating the dunes from crest down the back slope, then blazing orange everywhere, creating a powerful contrasting vista across the whole desert - Sossusvlei, Namibia
Different perspective than I uploaded earlier; showing the Nebraska Historical Marker with the courthouse in the background.
The Nemaha County Courthouse is a historic building in Auburn, Nebraska. It was built by W. M. Rowles & Company in 1899, and designed in the Romanesque Revival style by German-born architect George A. Berlinghof. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 10, 1990.
Fun fact: I am originally from Auburn; lived five blocks south of this courthouse. Many of my relatives live there, but some moved out, including me. Of course, many passed away and buried around the area. I still visit the town, but not as often as I used to.
On a rainy May 14, 1986 I shot CNW C628's 6704, 6718 and 6701 pumping air after doubling there train together at Partridge. The area look quite different today with a mountain of tailings in the left distance from Empire Mine and of course there's also no C628's to be seen either.
and it feels very liberating :)
Hope u have a sunny relaxing day :) and go get some fresh air, flickr will still be here when the day is over

Assuming this female Mallard is leucistic, I think I have seen her on past visits to the lake, sure makes her stand out.
I do like side by side shots that compare the difference between two buses or trains which are similar technically but yet have minor differences

Başka türlü birşey benim istediğim
Ne ağaca benzer ne de buluta
Burası gibi değil gideceğim memleket
Denizi ayrı deniz, havası ayrı hava
Nerde gördüklerim,nerde o beklediğim
Rengi başka, tadı başka
Bir başka yolculuk dalından düşmek yere
Yaşadığından uzun
Bir tatlı yolculuk dalından inmek yere
Ağacın yüksekliğince
Dalın yüksekliğince rüzgârda
Vardığım çimen yeşilliğince

Slightly different to last post looking more up Wolfscote Dale
With no "good" weather on the horizon, it's another dip in the "back catalogue". Two more shots from above Peaseland rocks looking up Wolfscote Dale towards Hartington

The Monkey Forest is owned by the village of Padangtegal and village members serve on the Monkey Forest's governing council. The Padangtegal Wenara Wana Foundation manages the Monkey Forest and serves to maintain its sacred integrity and to promote the sacred site as a destination for visitors.

Testing macro-lens
Deze serie is gemaakt van dezelfde bloem om mijn macro-lens zo goed mogelijk te leren kennen. Vooral om te oefenen hoeveel bokeh er met de lens is aan te brengen.
I've seen many images of this chappel in St Magdalena, all shot in almost the same way. So we thought we could try something different. Not so spectacular, but maybe unique.
Hope you like it, enjoy!

The clusters of drops fascinated me, the different sizes, patterns losing cohesion. Inspired the creation of a new group, Forms of Water, you are welcome to join.
Rambagh Palace, Jaipur is like an oasis of opulence. Very expensive by Indian standards in beautiful grounds. Close to the polo club. Lunch only for me!
There's a story here... I had just finished a great workshop by Dan Ballard in Southern Colorado, shooting scenes off the beaten path near Silverton, a little mining town. We spent time trying to find original compositions and chased good light off road as far as his truck with front and rear locking differential would carry us. I was traveling back to my Wyoming home on CR 125 near the Wyoming/Colorado border, satisfied with what we had seen and conquered, when I passed this pond at the Ginger Quill Ranch. Seeing the sunset and storm front reflected on the pond, I found a parking spot and grabbed my gear. Now Dan had just been telling me how I needed to work a scene before settling on a composition, shoot it from different angles and in different light. So, after initially taking a shot from the road, I went to work on this scene. Good thing too, because shortly after tearing my jeans while crawling over a barbed wire fence, I found this old fence leading into the pond about the same time that the light was at its best. Thanks Dan.
This is a 12 image composite pano comprising of 4 three shot HDR images stitched together in PS. The colors are accurately represented (I was literally in awe) but brought out with vibrance in LR. Over the series of shots, 3 separate lightning strikes were observed. These were blended into the final image.
Thanks for viewing. Coments and CC welcome.
The photo is about different lives in different frames. The photo is actually about a train compartment where people from different places came to go to different destinations. They are traveling together. Some people got tickets to sit in their seats and some did not get any seats so they are traveling by standing.
The locomotive was red, though somewhat faded. The purple hue is courtesy of the Lomography film: "...this unique color negative emulsion lends a whiff of retro charm and classical analogue character ... fascinating blue nuances, glowing reds and tender pastel hues ..."
Deutsche Bundesbahn's Class 217 was a derivative of the earlier V 160 mid-size diesel-hydraulic locomotive. V160s were a very common sight, but have now all been phased out.
I don't know much about the steam loco standing next it, except that it was in bad shape and would need a lot of restoration effort.
