Just another take on this treat of a move in perfect conditions.
Providence and Worcester Railroad's Valley Falls based local PR3 has dropped part of their train and trailing GP38-2 2009 in the clear on Main 3 near MP 179.3 of Amtrak's New Haven Line (Northeast Corridor) and are starting to shove back down the 3100 ft long Wellington Siding to spot up a string of flat cars loaded with track panels that Amtrak MofW forces will be unloading there.
This is a bit of an unusual move as PR3 rarely travels down track 3 beyond Spaulding Brick a mile away in the distance, and the only freight to come this way is the overnight WODA/DAWO road trains to and from Davisville. The delay they incurred in the morning really improved the light situation here, and I captured a LOT of cool angles of this gorgeous pair of GP38-2s (2006 and 2007 built new for the then only 7 yr newly independent road by EMD in Feb. and Nov. 1980 respectively) on the west end of the train. On the other end is sister GP38-2 2009 also purchased new by the railroad in Sep. 1982 but built without dynamic brakes unlike her two year older siblings.

I don't have the time to really write tonight, I have to run here in a moment to go teach a class and if I don't post this now it will be really late by the time I get the chance to post again.
I will say that my assignment I will be giving the class tonight will be to choose a location close to home, somewhere within say, a five minute walk, somewhere they could easily go to every day, and then go to that place as many times as they can this week and to make photos. The idea being that on the second, third, fourth or fifth trip to a spot you look at it differently. It is an exercising in learning how to see. This bridge is my spot. I go there again and again, reminding myself that every time I go to look at it with fresh eyes no matter how familiar it may seem... it is never really the same bridge. This practice has served me well over the years, hopefully it helps my students too.
P.S. Saw a short video on-line today about Abelardo Morell. Do your inner photographer a favor and look him up. He has been a favorite of mine for many years now but his more recent tent camera work is so intriguing.

This is what I see from my new home in Ankara..quite often with flocks of birds foraging around for food on the fields opposite me.
And I'll soon be 'in the direction'' of Istanbul as we have a long religious holiday.Before leaving,I'll try to catch up as much as possible,albeit slowly..sorry if I cannot catch up with everybody.But sooner or later,I will..you know that:)

I had a different idea for a wave shot, facing the ocean directly shooting when the waves retreat instead I shot diagonal shooting when the waters move forward to catch the swirl around the boulder. I had my filters on shooting a long exposure dawn, had to adjust quick to take this shot without taking off the screw on ND. There wasn't much cloud so the light would turn harsh faster, of course there was also the problem of the weakening swell and the onset of low tide. Had to be extra quick to catch this one.
Exact dezelfde plek als mijn laatste upload. Zoek de verschillen... Helaas is deze locatie hedendaags niet meer zo mooi als hij was (vind ik tenminste). Het houtwerk en vooral die verschrikkelijke stoplichten maken het allemaal een stuk onrustiger. Het zal nodig zijn geweest, maar het (fotografisch gezien) inmiddels iconische bruggetje zal zoals de meesten het kennen voortaan alleen nog in de archieven te vinden zijn.

A relic of a different age and it is not just my hands.
