The Fort Gratiot Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in Michigan and sits where the St. Clair river meets Lake Huron in Port Huron, Michigan. The original lighthouse was built in 1825, but was extended to 86 feet in 1861. The lighthouse has reopened for tours and the Port Huron Museum is doing a fantastic job with this site. If you look at my older photos, you can really see the difference in the building from 2008 to the present. I was able to climb the tower, which is always a treat with ay lighthouse visit. It is definitely worth the visit to this beautiful historical lighthouse. They are open daily over the summer.
Coincidently, both of the pictured defensive playmakers wear #91. Cameron Wake is a DE/LB with great strength and burst. He is a sack machine. Jamie Collins is an exceptional athlete with a high football IQ. He is a disrupter and will blitz and drop into coverage. Both playmakers will be on the field on Thursday Night Football tonight.
New Cyclops uses the old Cyclops head and torso down to the knees and elbows. The lower arms and legs are taken from Bullseye. Apparently this makes Astonishing Cyclops a good half a head taller than the original!
Always nice contrasts among the different styles of buildings in Madrid. Classic balconies and carvings on one and matching curved window arches on the other. The Gran Via is a visual gem when looking at all the fascinating buildings along it's route.
Just trying out the new Aperture. Opened the same NEF (RAW) file and started editing with the knowledge I have. I'm a Photoshop user, but I was pleasantly surprised by some Aperture features.
I am way faster in Photoshop and Photoshop feels faster on my 2.0 Ghz Dual Core iMac with 4GB RAM. Nice things in Photoshop:
- Repair brush (it's fast and easy)
- Zoom views and spacebar move
- This is JPEG setting 12. Filesize 1,7MB
- Before/after view whilst setting filters (like sharpness) so you can see effect.
Not so good:
- Auto levels made this image too dark
- Hard to isolate/fix blue hue on greenish fish (see Aperture example for how it should be)
- Cropping is oldfashioned in Photoshop. i.e. No preview of crop and that silly pulldown for aspect ratio. Basically still a hit and miss gamble.
p.s. I love NIK filters and "Pro contrast" really fixed this image, but I decided it was not fair to use external filters to fix this image, but just the given tools of the software.

Everyday activists looking to make a difference and protect the place we all call home gathered on March 2-4, 2017 in Denver, Colorado, for our 34th Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training. Led by former US Vice President Al Gore, nearly 1,000 attendees came together for the three-day event to learn how to communicate the science behind the climate crisis and take action to solve it.
More than 30 speakers joined us at the training, including experts in communications, grassroots organizing, and climate science. On the third day, Vice President Gore and three incredible Climate Reality Leaders held a panel to discuss the Leaders’ experiences as trainees and their place on the front lines of the fight for climate solutions in their communities.
