There is an interesting story to this. Nat and I spent a few days down the coast at Jervis Bay for new years. The area surrounding the bay is all National Park, but there are some small communities scattered around. We stayed in one of these very small towns, and we noticed a big change from the previous years and months that we had visited - namely that there was a lot of development happning, right on the shoreline. Jervis Bay is one of the most beautiful places on earth, so it is a shame to see it change (though it will bring many benefits to the local community). In the photo, you can see one example of how construction sites are vandalised by locals who are against further development - it is a very very hot issue in the area with the council supporting development while the residents opposing.

I tend to avoid photography on blue-sky days, so to shake myself out of that I went looking for strongly backlit subjects on just such a day. A tree leaning over the Eno River.

A sample output of an early version of Masakazu Matsumoto (Vitroid)'s Developer program.

I like the idea of the interface, it's vertex based! All the user has to do is add and moves corner points on the spherical imagery. The flat faces, the edges and layout is determined automatically.

I've never seen this before! The benefit here is that you can create an arbitrary polyhedron net based on the geometry contained in the imagery of the spherical panorama. It's a little rough right now, but I can see it becoming a very powerful tool.

Help - is this developer re-usable?

The instructions say you make a litre of stock.

This stock is then diluted in 3 parts water to develop film.

But the part i don't understand is the instructions say the litre of stock can develop no more than 3 films.

Does this mean I can re-use the stock three times?

I'm really lost on this one.

NB: This is a cross-view stereoscopic pair.

Beech-drops (Epifagus virginiana), a parasitic annual in the Broomrape family (Orobanchaceae) that gets its nutrients from the roots of beech trees. (Most plants in this family are parasitic.) It blooms in late summer to autumn, and the the woody stems persist through the winter.

I've always found it a difficult plant to photograph, and was pleased to see how it looks in stereo.

Developers at the facebook f8 hackathon. Bart and I were going to write an app, but we were a bit tired and decided to hang out with the Red Bull peeps.

Despite having a collection of developer tools called Chrome DevTools integrated right into the browser, Chrome still lacks key functionalities. For instance, state management-focused front-end programming might make it challenging to gauge site performance and simple to troubleshoot.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

In 1899 Leo Hendrik Baekeland became a wealthy man through the sale of the Nepera Chemical Company with his invention, the VELOX photographic papers, to the General Aristo Co. and George Eastman.

This empty tin box is a nice addition to the collection and is described in the typed letter of 1897 we already had in our

Baekeland collection.

Sir John Rogerson (1648–1724) was an Irish politician, wealthy merchant and property developer.

Very little is known about his family background or his early life, except that he was born in the Netherlands in 1648. The Rogerson family were probably recent arrivals in Ireland. He lived in London in the late 1660s. He is recorded as a householder of Dublin from 1674. He was elected Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1693–94 and represented Clogher in the Parliament of Ireland from 1692 to 1693, then Dublin City from 1695 to 1703.

He built his country residence, "The Glen" or "Glasnevin House" outside the village of Glasnevin.

A quay in Dublin was named Sir John Rogerson's Quay owing to his association with its development. In 1713 Dublin Corporation leased him lands by the River Liffey, on condition that he build a quay there.

He married firstly Elizabeth Proby, daughter of Emmanuel Proby, and secondly Elizabeth Ward. By his first wife he was the father of John Rogerson (1676-1741), Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench in Ireland, and a younger son Richard, who was a barrister of the Middle Temple. His widow died in 1726.

On January 22, 2025,Lyon, France, I had to pick-up my GOMZ Leningrad camera from the repair shop, unfortunately ... not repaired, due to some really stuck pieces. I decided to push my way to Saint-Georges through Saint-Jean*** to purchase some Rollei RPX 400 films to replace the used ones recently.

I brought along again in my bag my beloved year-1976 Olympus OM-1 MD film SLR that is one of my preferred camera of my collection (see bellow for details). The camera was equipped this time with a wide-angle OM-System lens Zuiko Auto-W 1:2.8 f=28 mm and loaded with a Rollei RPX 400 film which is the former formula of the Agfa APX 400. I appreciate this film giving a large tone ranges and quite good image densities even in low light.

For all the frames, the lens was fitted with a generic yellow 49mm screwed filter. The light metering was done through the lens (TTL) for 400 ISO using the camera built-in CdS cell and/or my external lightmeter Minolta Autometer III (at 200 ISO to compensate the filter absorption in the daylight and 320 ISO for artificial tungsten light) with the 10° viewer for selective metering privileging the shadows areas. The weather was milder (8°C) than my last session two days before but still cloudy.

Place de la Basoche, January 22, 2025

After completion the film was rewound and processed using 350 mL of Adox Adonal (Agfa Rodinal) developer prepared at the dilution 1+25 for 12min30 at 20°C.

Digitizing was made using a Sony A7 camera (ILCE-7, 24MP) fitted to a Minolta Auto Bellows III with the Minolta slide duplication accessory and Minolta Macro Bellow lens 1:3.5 f=50mm. The light source was a LED panel CineStill Cine-lite.

The RAW files obtained were inverted within the latest version available of Adobe Lightroom Classic (version 14.1.1) and edited to the final jpeg pictures without intermediate file. They are presented either as printer files with a frame or the full size JPEG's together with some documentary smartphone color pictures.

About the camera :

My Olympus OM-1 MD was purchased from a local photography shop in Lyon, France, May 31, 2022.

Olympus OM-1 MD was commercially available from 1974 to 1978 and represented the fully mechanical SLR of a new class ("miniature SLR's") , smaller and lighter than any other SLR's of that time. It prefigured the size of most of the SLR's of the 80's.

The kit included the normal lens G.Zuiko Auto-S 1:1.4 f=50 mm in perfect condition, a Zuiko Auto-Zoom 1:4 f=75-150 mm with Olympus original rigid case, a Sigma Tele-Macro x2 converter, a small flash Olympus PE200 (GN 14 at 100 ISO) with case, A Crystal Titanium x 0.48 wide-angle converter (still never tested), and several 49 mm filters.

This specific OM-1 MD was constructed in Jan. 1976 according to the printed reference "ス ("su ") 615" on the back of the film plate.

The OM-system Zuiko Auto-W lens 1:2.8 f=28mm was purchased soon after from an eBay seller. To my experience it is one of the best 28mm lens I have in my collection leading to generally crisp and contrasted images.
