Industrial needles, used with standard syringes for dispensing purposes. I use them for projects, including for a couple of water droplet photos I posted here in the past.

Besides not being sterile, the heavier needle shaft gauge (1.81mm, or 0.07"), a flat tip, and other details make these needles totally unfit for medical use. Even though handling these was a little unnerving at first, I've gotten used to it.

Definitely Dreaming 2/52 paper

I've done versions of this a few times before and will no doubt do it again as I always like the effect.

The background is a texture by Jai Johnson.

For the Definitely Dreaming week 17 theme of "Light / Shadow".

Definitely well worn: by my mother, grandmother and now me and showing its age.

My mother enjoyed doing hardangar needlework. This was the last piece she was working on when she died eight years ago. The needle still in place is beginning to rust.

For Macro Mondays, "Weathered or Worn"

Happy Macro Mondays everyone.

Definitely less crowded than in summer but still a lot of people.

Definitely Mac's 2 cents worth!

Happy Caturday!

For Definitely Dreaming "cold".

I almost didn't get an entry for this week. I took this last Sunday as it was the first frost we had for a while, but wasn't very happy with it so was going to have another attempt during the week with a different subject. I almost took a box of tissues to represent cold - and how I have been feeling this week, but that is just too depressing. Unfortunately I tested positive for Covid19 on Wednesday. It was very annoying as I had done so well to avoid it these past couple of years, but that is the risk you take when visiting grandchildren for a birthday tea - he tested positive the following day. So I haven't had much energy since and thought this photo will have to do this week.

Two aphids managed to photobomb this picture - just shows what a mild winter we have had this season.

So apologies for the lack of commenting on photos this week I will try and catch up as my concentration improves.

November 7th was a happy birthday for me, no matter my grand age! THIS little bear- she says her name is Terry- from Bonnie, helped make my day a VERY special day! Not to mention the calls, texts, the ecards, and emails from many of my wonderful family and friends! LoveYouGuys!

definitely better on black.

have a nice evening :-)

Definitely Dreaming - 2020 Photo Project

Week 6 of 52

News just in - Flying boy spotted in Gamla Stan! There's definitely more than a SPRING in his step :-)))) ... Lol!

Whenever the day turns out to be a bit dull, which is definitely the case here today, I'm happy that I still have photos of the cherry blossoms on the banks of the Elbe in Dresden.

And so today I'm taking you back to this beautiful evening, which I spent here searching for appealing motifs.

Here we are again looking out of one of the trees at the beautiful backdrop of Dresden's Old Town, while the evening sun caresses the tree's blossoms.

And before you start thinking: I didn't climb the tree to take this photo. The branch hung so low that it was enough to hold the camera high above my head to get it in this position.

And with this warm and sunny view, I wish you all a happy Easter.

Definitely Dreaming - Week 19 Buildings

Here in Bexhill we have the most boring of beach huts, as the council insist they all be painted white :( Although a few have added some colour to the gables.

Definitely easier to see what's going on if you look at this upside down.....

Thanks for visiting.

Definitely a highlight from 2008. (wild hawk at the zoo) - previous post of 'em

definitely a sign of autumn with the red berries of the rowan in full bloom

Green heron's tiny breakfast. He must have caught nearly a dozen little minnows in the short time that I watched him. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Ferrari Enzo i think one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever!!!

That was one of the best cars in the last year for me.

What do you think about the Enzo?

Two copper Navajo bracelet cuffs. They belonged to my mother in law. She hasn't worn them for many many years. A quick clean and reshape and I'll definitely wear them.

i believe there is way more to sunlight than we can even comprehend..so i praise the sun and give thanks for it's life giving energies...

and woo-hoo! 2 jumps in a row!

took way too much time editing this..had a few different versions and finally decided on this one..might show the alternates at a different time.

From a spring visit to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, Virginia

whenever someone who knows you disappears, you lose one version of yourself. yourself as you were seen, as you were judged to be. lover or enemy, mother or friend, those who know us construct us, and their several knowings slant the different facets of our characters like diamond-cutter's tools. each such loss is a step leading to the grave, where all versions blend and end.

EHJ may be a frequent visitor to CDG, yet having this photo opportunity definitely requires luck!

A pair of LTEX SW1500s leased by Wilmington Terminal Railway shove 3 tankers up South Front Street and into Colonial Fuel. I believe this is the first time that this very overlooked section of street running has been properly photographed. The pair of SWs are in what seems to be a knockoff of Amtrak phase IV paint. They certainly do look good, though.

A small low-key celebration with a bottle of de Bortoli sparkling shiraz to accompany our evening meal to express our relief and joy that a much-loved member of our extended family who has been struggling through chemo, has now been found to be free of cancer.

Living at opposite ends of the country and all of us still in a version of lock down, this was the best we could do for the time being.

I'm definitely not an expert on the the Comma group of butterflies...just to be clear! However, I have named this particular one the Hoary Common because of the information provided in Butterflies of the Pacific Northwest, authored by Robert Michael Pyle and Caitlin C. LaBar.

This Comma is typically found at elevations of 7,000 ft and above, and I had the good luck to see this individual at Shafer Butte Camping area in Boise National Forest.

Definitely not the prettiest of creatures - but this larvalform female from the firefly family Lampyridae has something that beautiful birds, fuzzy bunnies and cute kittens lack - bioluminescence. Light organs on the abdomen contain molecules of luciferin, when this reacts with molecular oxygen catalysed by the enzyme luciferinase, light energy is released as an eerie yellow/green glow. The glow is very bright - it was visible from several metres away.

This was a challenging capture - the image is a blend of shots taken with and without the light from my headtorch. Exposing for the bright glow left the rest of the image in complete darkness, but too much light from the headtorch washed out the glow and its reflection on the stone wall. The glow-worm was close to ground level, so the tripod legs were stretched out flat (as was I) with the macro lens just inches away from the glow-worm.

No glow-worms were harmed in the making of this photograph - although as a nocturnal animal, she soon became annoyed with the headtorch light and crawled away into a nice dark crack in the stone wall. This was my third night of photographing her, but after this she was not seen again - clearly she had had quite enough...or perhaps she found a mate...

Spot the odd one out in this sheep field near the old Castletown airfield in Caithness. There were actually at least three of these massive birds in the field amongst the more usual sheep!!

Do 'ewe' agree?

These sheep were so beautiful and had the most amazing golden eyes.

Red stag deer and emu farm, Eurobin, Victoria.

I think this little beauty is an Ichneumon Wasp, but any further ID would be appreciated :) (See ID below)

It was a small and dainty wasp.

The back of it is for Beautiful Bug Butt Thursday, and the front of it is for the Eyes of March group :))

HBBBT and HEoM! :)))

Maybe I don't really wanna know

How your garden grows

'Cause I just wanna fly

Lately, did you ever feel the pain

In the morning rain

As it soaks you to the bone?

Maybe I just wanna fly

Wanna live, I don't wanna die

Maybe I just wanna breathe

Maybe I just don't believe

Maybe you're the same as me

We see things they'll never see

You and I are gonna live forever

I said maybe I don't really wanna know

How your garden grows

'Cause I just wanna fly

Lately, did you ever feel the pain

In the morning rain

As it soaks you to the bone?

This is not what you will see. With my little camera I pointed at Mars and then at the Moon and then .... I put the images side by side for comparison.

Now I understand that there is a sand storm going on on Mars so I cannot make out the ice cap with the newly discovered lake underneath. But this is a little glimpse into the incredible universe, ruled by its own rules, with life definitely hiding out there somewhere.

Definitely a different scene since last time I was here with the platform between the UP mains being developed. Also, the NS transfer train IG4AH began running a few months ago which gives us the occasional heritage unit out of Global 4. Jun 24, 2017
