I definitely love the aesthetics of the eights interleaved in a race sweepeing so close, darting throuhgh the race course. Let me note that to get these colors I've just increased slightly the dynamic contrast, bleaching the garish green of the grass, which was much more preeminent in the picture than in reality. I worked on the contrast of the water surface, and selectively applied a yellow graduated filter to it, in a moderate percentage (like 30%) and exluding the white buoy on the right, which is essential to balance the composition. Worked with LR5, Viveza and Color Effex Pro.
Definitely not in a place I would expect to find this guy, their not especially not this cooperative but this was and wanted his picture taken.
Thanks to everyone for everything.

[Sept. 2007] Quite possibly my favorite shot of the whole week*, taken by a random stranger of the male persuasion who grabbed my camera and insisted on taking a picture with me in it. (I will take credit for doing the 'art directing' though, once I handed over the camera.)
This photo somehow captures the look and feel and spirit of the Burning Man experience -- for me (because Burning Man is so many different things to so many different people).
*I just got back from the playa --literally-- and I have hundreds of shots to sort through, so that might change...but for now... :)
The Inntel Hotel in Zaandam/Netherlands is definitely the main attraction of the city but also of the whole country.
The twelve-storey-high hotel tower with 160 rooms is a stacking and interpretation of various green-painted house types typical of the Zaan region, ranging from a stately notary’s dwelling to worker’s cottages. ‘The Blue House’ has been inspired by the work Claude Monet painted at Zaandam in 1871.
Construction finished in 2010, design by WAM architecten.
It was definitely worth getting up for sunrise that morning. Thankfully I didn’t need to climb the 199 steps for this capture, we were staying at the YHA next to Whitby Abbey 😂 Not a chance in hell of managing those steps before lunch time!
Heading back to Whitby this weekend for a much needed week away. Managed to find a late booking still available, thankfully.
This will be my last post until we return, hopefully with some half decent images and in a better place, mentally. Thank you all for your support during a very difficult few months.
Happy Easter, dear friends. 🐑🐰❤️
I definitely didn't use the camera it says I did in the metadata. But, I'm getting my blog up again! withvalour.blogspot.ca/2015_10_01_archive.html
Well, there you have it… Don has posted another Black Phoebe shot.
Definitely need to step up my game and find some Lions and Tigers, or Bears, indeed!
Nevertheless, watching this Little Guy flitter from his sun-soaked perch to chase bugs made for an enjoyable morning at the local park… life doesn’t get much better.

The Black Phoebe is a dapper flycatcher of the western U.S. with a sooty black body and crisp white belly.
They sit in the open on low perches to scan for insects, often keeping up a running series of shrill chirps.
Black Phoebes use mud to build cup-shaped nests against walls, overhangs, culverts, and bridges. Look for them near any water source from small streams to suburbs, all the way to the salt-sprayed rocks and cliffs of the Pacific Ocean.
Although it mostly eats insects, the Black Phoebe sometimes snatches minnows from the surface of ponds. It may even feed fish to nestlings.
The male Black Phoebe gives the female a tour of potential nest sites, hovering in front of each likely spot for 5 to 10 seconds. But it’s the female who makes the final decision and does all the nest construction.
The oldest Black Phoebe on record was at least 8 years old when it was recaptured and released during banding operations in California.

Definitely an outtake because I out-took an annoying lamp post. I don't normally edit for content so initially disqualified this for Flickr, but what the heck, not much else going on and it's too cold for me to be outside. This was early November.
Wishing all a fine week ahead...
Snowy Egrets usually hang around bottom feeders like this Roseate Spoonbill in hopes they will scare up a fish or two.
As we saw in Olympus, the Carpathians love bright colors. Here we find a house in which the blue of the sky and the sea were combined with the earth ocher - while the window frames remain in the classic white.
Menetes, Karpathos, Greece.
Well I am definitely now finding these belly shots a little difficult, not least because my belly was full of cornish pasties or clotted cream and fresh strawberries on scones. No jam for me as the strawberries made them a bit more healthy I thought lol :)
I also had ants crawling all over me again as well. Now the strange thing is that if i come across ants indoors I go hysterical yet I feel such pleasure at these Silver studded blues that flutter all around me at Gwithian that I can ignore them here...strange but true. You don't have to seach for these at all -or chase them. Just be very still and they will come to you. Now I know I dont look anything like a butterfly but I can be very still and very patient so I get hundreds of shots, far more than I need but they are so entrancing to watch.... Sue X

Thanks for taking the time to view this and leave your feedback , much appreciated .
Definitely not Olympics tennis :)
This is an in-camera multiple exposure (3 exposures) with a bit of ICM as well. It was fun to do this one - with the players moving quickly or standing still. You never know what you're going to get :)

Happy Okeh Wednesday everyone!
Sometimes just sitting on a branch can be dangerous. This Kookaburra flew in and landed on this branch near me, only seconds later the little Grey Fantail started buzzing and swooping him, obviously telling him he was invading his territory. It lasted a few minutes and the Kookaburra decided it would just move on. The Grey Fantail looked very pleased with himself.
For Definitely Dreaming week 44 theme of "Dangerous".
Definitely seen me.....I remember this very brief encounter well, nearly three years ago, doesn't feel that long ago, oh well time flies past....
hoping the rain holds out long enough for her to take flight...
I wish I would have seen her emerge... they are definitely not like the Monarchs, but after planting all their host plants in my garden, I hope to raise many of my own.... this was one of two chrysalis my friend gave me... they made their chrysalis August 2021!
For the Definitely Dreaming week 37 of 52 theme "Full of Character", this portrait of a Galah, one of our most character-full Australian birds.
The leaves look like Cornus florida, the common dogwood, and so do the flowers, but the fruit is definitely different!
Thanks for looking! Isn't God a great artist?
Definitely not a lost kitty; this is a lynx rufus rufus (aka Bobcat). It is one of 2 lynx kittens noted to be roaming the 34,000 acres of Anahuac National Wildlife Preserve (not a zoo), Texas.

I wish everyone a very happy Sunday.
Apologies for posting yet more sunbeams
Definitely have too much time on my hands. Much rather be out shooting, but computer time is what’s available during our period of COVID-19 Quarantine.
So here I present a Cormorant, all dressed in paint and light… Come to think of it, he’d probably be happier outside too : )
For most birds, wet feathers are highly undesirable because they impede their ability to fly and don’t provide insulation. But cormorants dive underwater to catch food. They have feathers that become easily waterlogged, which allows them to dive deeper by preventing air bubbles from getting trapped underneath their feathers. This is one reason you often see cormorants standing with their wings spread, drying their wet wings after diving.
Dark body with orange bare skin at the base of the bill. Breeding adults are all black. Immature and non-breeder cormorants have paler breast. Dives underwater to catch fish. Swims like a duck in between dives. Finds open perches to spread wings and dry feathers. Can be in large flocks or solo. Most widespread cormorant across U.S. and Canada; also most likely to be seen inland.

Definitely one of the more odd birds we saw during our time in South Africa. Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga, South Africa
Bruges, such a beautiful city. I admit I rarely went to it, although it's not that far from my home. The reason is, I'm not such a big fan of medieval architecture, I prefer modernism. How could I be so wrong. I managed to make some incredible long exposure shots, definitely will go again.
Definitely a Soloist dancer.....

You dance with magic through the night......" Wanda Christian Stirewalt
Enjoy the day and seize the moment!....in whatever manner that is good for you, my friends.....Pat
Definitely one of the most amazing birds in western Europe, not only because of the beautiful metallic sheen of its colourful and white-spangled plumage, but also because of the astonishing range of its melodic and mechanical-sounding sounds.
Common starling (Sturnus vulgaris).

but you have to use what you have... at least you can tell this is a robin and she sat so still for me to take this shot!!
So the moral of the story is.... you don't have to use a macro lens just for macro!!
Definitely one of my favorite birds, not only because it is incredibly cute and very friendly, but also because it is a very caring and loving bird.
From the paridae family, (same as the chickadee) they have a very peculiar way of taking care of their young, usually with the help of one of their offsprings from the previous year. How do they decide who stays behind to help is simply fascinating to me!
If you want to know more about this bird, this site has very interesting facts:
www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/tufted-titmouse
And the look, it is the look of love for peanuts and sunflower seeds!
If you don’t know your cardinal from your titmouse, just remember this sound: " Peter, peter peter", and that will be your titmouse ;)

Photography is my passion, and nature photography is my favorite.
I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.
I'm in many groups, and I only add my photos to them if they are not private.
I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!
The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!
Martha,
I came out of my self-isolation last weekend to find that the lovely vase of tulips had been left without any fresh water so all the flowers had flopped over and had completely dried out. I still find them oddly beautiful so placed this one on the lightpad.
