I found this little guy in my pool back in August, and fortunately, he was still alive. August marks the mating season for our local tarantulas, when males leave their burrows in search of love. Unfortunately, this one found himself in a bit of trouble and nearly drowned.
Oddly, he was leaking a liquid from his abdomen. it wasn't blood, as their blood is bluish. And it definitely wasn't waste either, which is typically white. I'm puzzled as to what that brown fluid could have been.

Chappell Roan: Good Luck, Babe!
For the Definitely Dreaming Week 48 theme of "A Gift".
I love the inspirational musings of @boyunderthebridge - this is an image I’ve taken in my local park, using one of an envelope full he sent me during lockdown, because I wasn't allowed to the suburbs he was posting them. I truly think that his inspirational notes to be found around many Melbourne suburbs are a beautiful gift to so many people and were especially so during our tough lockdown.
This image was also taken with my Lensbaby Twist60 lens which was gifted to me earlier this year by the husband of a very dear friend who passed away after a short battle with cancer. It is special image for me because of that too, I love the twisty bokeh the lens produces.
Definitely one of last year's highlights in the first lockdown phase.
In a few weeks the wild garlic will be in bloom again, I'm already looking forward to it.
I am spellbound by this delicate flower. I shot this with my Yongnuo 50mm, but on my Nikon D 3300, I can't do a double exposure there, but an overlay, I hope you like it ;-)
... so that's part II of the reverie :-)
thanks for watching, i really appreciate it!
Another shot taken last week at Briton Ferry. It was such a lovely sky which kept changing so yet another shot from there sorry! The ladder is the remains of the industrial past when ships used to tie up. It looks very rickety and I definitely was not tempted to climb down!
For Definitely Dreaming week 26: Brightly coloured. The City of Monash held Emerge: a festival of lights and lanterns in Mount Waverley Community Centre gardens recently. Bringing some brightly coloured lantern animals to the dark night.

Definitely not a good combo to eat. The shot, however...
When I heard CSX 4792, 1 of about 4-5 active unrebuilt SD70MACs, trailed on an ethanol empty to the TCW, it was obvious it would lead the loads back, but “when?” was the question. So I found myself sitting on the HWY 165 overpass on a Monday afternoon just to get a few clicks of this thing past the abandoned Jelly Belly factory.
It was worth it.
….. Definitely cold enough for us to live here no problem! - Now where’s the Fish market I’m feeling peckish!! A seasonal bit of fun from Kings Cross Railway Station down in dear old London Town. Happy Friday one and all. Alan:-)….

Definitely starting to look and feel more springlike :)
Many thanks for all the kind comments and faves - they're very much appreciated :)))
Lewin's Honeyeater (Meliphaga lewinii) shows up on the Grevillea 'Robyn Gordon' to initiate spring in my garden on the Queensland Gold Coast hinterland.
.. .but none the same the star of the day in my garden once the rain had stopped and sunshine returned... good wishes for a lovely week ahead.
Definitely a sight to take in in the early morning hours of Autumn in Colorado! I spent some time before I knew the sunlight would hit the upper peaks to get the exposure right. My thinking was to set the exposure for the highlights of the mountains and then use Capture NX 2 bring out the shadows later on in post-production. Humorous note, it was kind of quiet before the sunlight hit the upper peaks of Maroon Bells. Once the sunlight did hit the peaks. one could hear hundreds, if not thousands, of clicks from SLR cameras in the Maroon Creek valley :-)
The Definitely Dreaming Week 2 of 52 theme is "Time". I was struggling for ideas, and as I have done so often when that happens I turned to "my little muse" and used one of the beautiful photographs from my dear friend Jennifer to use in this Photoshop creation with one of my own photos - thanks Jennifer.
A cold evening, warmed up by the presence of some good friends.
Sunset at St Kilda Pier.
Also for Definitely Dreaming week 25/52, "Darkness".
While today dawn fiery and bright, yesterday's dawning was wreathed in fog, leading to a moody start. One had to shine a light to see through the morning mists and confusion. A bit like me before the morning coffee! For Definitely Dreaming theme 15 of Mood.
The three-link chain has long been a symbol of the Independent Order of Oddfellows (IOOF) with the links representing Friendship, Truth and Love. We all need plenty of all three these days.
For the Definitely Dreaming week 7 of 52 theme of “Three”.

Well I am definitely not a wildlife photographer but when you see a scene like this you have to grab a shot. I only have a lens up to 400mm and this was at that plus in crop mode in camera. I was on the bank of the river so I couldn't get any closer. If anyone wants to buy me a 600mm prime lens get in touch (eye roll) Happy New Year to everyone.. Kris..

Definitely not as frosty as yesterday's Finch, but I think the pose tells the story here with it's puffed up look, and how it's head appears to be sunken into the feathers of it's chest. I am sure it is doing what it can to conserve it's body heat.
The warm weather has arrived here. Last night the temperature soared about 12 degrees in an hour or two. It was like a switch was turned on. Along with that warming we got just a bit of freezing rain which I am not thrilled about, but it is nice to see the temperature moderate as it as.
I think the next time I see this dove it will have a completely different pose for me.
I am definitely one for the natural world rather than man made constructions, however there is only so long you can ignore a visit to the likes of Salford Queys. Yes, I would have preferred it before the transition when in my childhood it acted as the inland port for Manchester. Boats and warehouses would have offered much more interest to me. Todays bright lights provide employment, retail and housing and offer up a modern and distinctive skyline. The flat calm water in the old docks of course provide some fine reflections of the neon illuminated towers.
Definitely Dreaming - Circles
I had a couple of ideas for this theme and this wasn't either of them. We went for a walk in the blue hour so I thought I'd take my camera with me to get some bokeh shots with car lights. I also took a couple of photos of a tree. I blended one of the bokeh shots and one of the tree shots along with a couple of textures (my own.)
Lensbaby Trio 28 Velvet setting and macro filter.
Definitely a hot shot with the sassy Jadey - posed by CuCa, both dressed by Dhoma (Stacy Lingerie out now at FaMESHed).

Definitely feeling a bit short of material..........
As I mentioned earlier, I'm staying at home. Luckily I have a husband and a son to stay at home with. We all help out in different ways.
In a way I think that 'staying home' gives an illusion of safety as it's calm here, the days just like they ever were except that nobody goes out - except to collect some prescriptions from the pharmacy. But on the TV news it seems to be a whole different world of which we are only spectators
Stay safe!
Definitely the nicest way to warm up after a morning out taking photographs. Even better if you are enjoying it while visiting with a good friend.
Industrial needles, used with standard syringes for dispensing purposes. I use them for projects, including for a couple of water droplet photos I posted here in the past.
Besides not being sterile, the heavier needle shaft gauge (1.81mm, or 0.07"), a flat tip, and other details make these needles totally unfit for medical use. Even though handling these was a little unnerving at first, I've gotten used to it.
