It was a rare moment when the already harsh morning sun revealed the Great Crested Grebe emerging from a shadow. I could have tried to soften the effect in post-processing but... Oh well, "I just had to let it go".
The rock formation of Cappadocia is a gorgeous thing alone, but the deep blue sky and cotton-like white clouds make the landscape even more beautiful.

Arriving here in the mid afternoon amongst the hordes of other tourists in high season doesn't easily lend itself to finding a deep, contemplative mood to really appreciate the generations that have come and gone since the building of these stunning monoliths. We walked in from the new centre and took the field route so that helped us to appreciate the open skies and big vistas and to set the scene for our arrival. In hindsight a good decision as this heightened our sense of anticipation as we got slowly closer to the monument - far better than just piling on and off a bus like so many cattle and made the up close sight so much more rewarding.
This is a 3 shot HDR image. Just one amongst many millions that must have been recorded here, but hopefully the treatment helps it to stand out a little above the crowd.

From my second roll from my fisheye. Still getting to grips with it. This was bulb mode for half a second-ish exposure. Even with 400 speed film in, most outdoor shots are underexposed, unless in bright bright sunlight.
