Banteay Srei (or Banteay Srey) is a 10th century Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Located in the area of Angkor in Cambodia, at 13.5989 N, 103.9628 E, it lies near the hill of Phnom Dei, 25 km (15 miles) north-east of the main group of temples that once belonged to the medieval capitals of Yasodharapura and Angkor Thom.[1] Banteay Srei is built largely of red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still observable today. The buildings themselves are miniature in scale, unusually so when measured by the standards of Angkorian construction. These factors have made the temple extremely popular with tourists, and have led to its being widely praised as a "precious gem", or the "jewel of Khmer art."

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Linn. (family Malvaceae), known colloquially as the Chinese hibiscus, is an evergreen flowering shrub native to East Asia. It is also known as China rose and shoe flower. It is widely grown as an ornamental plant throughout the tropics and subtropics. The flowers are large, generally red in the original varieties, and firm, but generally lack any scent. Numerous varieties, cultivars, and hybrids are available, with flower colors ranging from white through yellow and orange to scarlet and shades of pink, with both single and double sets of petals.

This weekend was dedicated to all things Scottish so there was a lot of plaid and kilts everywhere - and it was a very cold morning too. I spent most of the day just wandering around aimlessly. There are so many great photo ops that I'm very content with that.
I took these photos in mid-November 2016 at the Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission, Texas, about 50 miles NW of Houston. I think this is the largest Renaissance Festival in the USA.

We have perfect weather to work with over `125 dedicated volunteers at Bear Creek Park and Stream filling a dump truck with trash and debris they removed from the stream and the adjacent park totally over 3 tons!!! This included 271 bags of trash, a truck full of metal to be recycled, 3.5 shopping carts, 4 rolls of roof underlayment, 2 bicycles, a wooden shelf, a stroller, a baby gate a roll of wire fence and much more! Thank you everyone so very much for all your incredible hard work under such tough conditions! Our volunteer’s dedication of working toward a cleaner, greener, healthier community and environment is without equal! Thank to everyone who volunteered with us today.
We would also like to thank the Ocean Conservancy, American Rivers, Day to Serve, and National Public Lands Day and for all their assistance and support on this cleanup. We also wish to thank Tradepoint Atlantic and Walmart for your generous donations allowing is to purchase much needed supplies! Dedicated in 1925. During the dedication ceremony Tennessee’s World War I hero, Sgt. Alvin C. York, was escorted down the aisle as the band played Dixie.
The auditorium originally seated 2,200, with stunning design features and near perfect acoustics. "Youth" is the name of the heroic statue which stands in the center of the courtyard holding a Nike in his open left palm, symbolizing victory in the war. Belle Kinney Scholz was the sculptor of the statue. She also built the Confederate Women's Monument at the southwest corner of the building. To the south end of the large plaza in front of the War Memorial are monuments to the Korean War (built by Russ Faxon in 1992; Faxon also built the Oh Roy statue that sits inside of the Ryman Auditorium) and the Vietnam War Monument (built by Alan LeQuire in 1986; LeQuire also built the Parthenon’s Athena and the Music Circle’s Musica). The military branch of the Tennessee State Museum is on the ground floor of the southern end of the building.
The building was recognized with a Gold Medal Award by the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) in 1925, the highest honor that the AIA can bestow.
From 1939 to 1943, the War Memorial Auditorium served as the fourth home of the Grand Ole Opry.
The Grand Ole Opry was performed here from about 1939 through 1943, when the Opry moved to the larger Ryman Auditorium. The Opry members who were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry family during this time at War Memorial Auditorium include Ernest Tubb, Bill Monroe, and Minnie Pearl, just to name a few. On May 3, 2010, after the current Grand Ole Opry House flooded, the Opry returned to the War Memorial Auditorium for its first public performance there in over 66 years, and continued as one of the venues that hosted the Opry until the current Opry House was restored.
Nashville's capitol hill and grounds that surround War Memorial Auditorium has changed greatly since the early days. The area in which the War Memorial Building resides was originally known as Memorial Square, and it consisted of the War Memorial Building, the courtyard and fountain, and the State Capitol Building. The building has hosted three United States Presidents on their campaign trails, one United States Vice President, numerous Tennessee Governor Inaugurations, and an untold array of artists across all genres.

Dedicated to Tonx, the roaster that helped bring Victrola from goodness to greatness. This is an HDR shot taken with a D200 on nine-shot bracket, one stop bracket jumps. Deleted the four in-between shots to end up with five shots spanning a nine-stop range. Opened these five in CS2 automated HDR, set white balance, converted to 8-bit compressing highlights and shadows as I went. I've had very mixed luck with HDR, but this one I like. Oh, and mounted the camera on a tripod and held down the shutter button - anyone have a better way to press the button once and get all 9 shots - tried reprogramming FUNC but no luck - still makes me hold the button down.
This is a family dedicated channel to our beloved big lad Benji
We got Benji in 2007 when he was 4 years old as the owner was suffering from an illness and was no longer capable of looking after him
We got him on the 21st may 2007 so we used that date to celebrate his birthday
When Benji came to live with us he was a very independant lad and was always the boss especially over my two young sons and he stamped his authority quite quickly
He did test us at the beginning but soon knew that living here with us he was going to get nothing more than love and attention and he got that in abundance
He loved his home comforts as he would often take over the settee and would declare that space as his own
I myself have had health issues and Benji would always pop his head up to see if everything was alright with me and i would do the same with him everynight
We nearly lost Benji in 2013/2014 when we discovered a small lump on his groin and the vet at the time told us it was just a fatty lump and just ignore it
We knew something was not right and advised the vet that we wanted it removed and we would pay for the operation
We booked him in 2 weeks after that appointment and when we got him to the PDSA they told us that it was a good job that we ignored her colleagues advice and decided to go for the operation as it saved his life as this so called fatty lump was actually a growth that was cutting off his blood vessel, The operation was a success and it extended our time with Benji
There was times that we questioned some of the vets advice as for when we kept asking about all the lumps that was appearing on his body and again we were told that they were just fatty lumps
Over the past couple of years we were concerned of a few lumps under his chest and a few that would appear around his ribs etc and again we were told to ignore them as they were fatty lumps
Well those lumps turned out to be cancer and cost our baby boy his life as his liver had also became very enlarged and we had to make a decssion if we wanted to die in agony as we were informed or for the vet to give him that terrible injection
We took him home for a day so that he could say his goodbyes to my sons and we stayed awake with him all night
The following morning we gave him his favourite a tin of tuna and he had a good drink of water and at 10:15am on September 1st 2017 Benji was put to sleep
My wife held him in her arms as i cuddled his head and kept him from seeing the needles and he dropped into his deep sleep forever
The vet that dealt with Benji on his final moment was a wonderful and caring vet and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts for all she done
We love you Benji and we will walk together again one day soon

“AuthentiCity” is a photography project conceived in cooperation with the School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York, aimed at young international artists who are SVA students or alumni.
The project theme – “Revealing purity and authenticity in urban life” – is an invitation to use the straightforward language of photography to explore signs of authenticity and purity in the urban setting.
The project began with more than 200 photographers, educated at SVA, who were charged with capturing their vision of urban life. The 19 works selected in the preliminary stage were presented last April in an open exhibition during the Milan Design Week. Five of the 19 photographers, Carlos Alvarez Montero, Igor Aronov, Matthew Baum, Giselle Behrens and Caroline Shepard, were then selected, through a series of juror selections, to continue their work and each received a cash prize of $3000.00. Project winners were then chosen to be featured in the dedicated exhibition at the illy issimo AuthentiCity Lounge in New York.

He helped establish the Project Arts Centre, Dublin in 1967 and the Dublin Art Foundry. Notable sculptures include "Arrival", commissioned by the Irish Government and presented to the UN in 2000 and "Wings of the World" in Shenzhen, China, 1991. He is a member of Aosdána.

The Rosedale Arch is dedicated to the men of Rosedale, a neighborhood district and former municipality on the southern edge of Kansas City, Kansas, who served in World War I. Inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, the Arch was designed by John LeRoy Marshall, a Rosedale resident, and dedicated in 1924. Located on Mount Marty, the flood-lighted arch is most easily visible at night from the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Southwest Boulevard. A historic marker was dedicated under the arch in 1993 to honor the soldiers of World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War.
The Catherdral, dedicated to the Holy Trinity and commonly called Christ Church, was originally built by the Ostmen of Waterford in 1096 and stood until 1773 when the current building replaced it.It was built between 1773 - 1779 at a cost of £5897.
The bronze bronze sculpture depicts the marriage of Strongbow and Aoife.
Strongbow was the eldest son of Gilbert de Clare, earl of Pembroke, and succeeded to his father’s earldom in 1148.
Dermot MacMurrough, king of Leinster sought Strongbow’s assistance in regaining his power in Ireland. In return he promised Strongbow his daughter Aoife in marriage. Strongbow landed in Ireland on 23 August 1170 and attacked Waterford with a force of some two hundred knights and one thousand troops. Aoife and Strongbow were married at Christ Church Cathedral soon after Waterford was seized.
MacMurrough died in Ferns in May 1171, at the height of his power, leaving his kingdom to Strongbow.

I finally had the chance to see Rich Aucoin play again in Vancouver. He is absolutely brilliant. There are no words. I just find him so inspiring and positive and damn he puts on a show.
The last time I saw him, he put his heart into a one man show for no more than 10 people at the Railway Club. I could not believe the effort that went into that show. (And I don't care, I still love the "beta version" of "Brian Wilson is A.L.i.V.E." with the not so refined bass synth.) Now he's back after touring with Girl Talk and now that I think about it, Rich Aucoin combined with Girl Talk would just make the world implode with their party tricks.
Rich came armed with silly string, glow sticks, confetti, balloons, a projection screen and even a freaking rainbow parachute that you used to do group activities with in pre-school! I haven't seen one of those since... WELL PRE-SCHOOL. His videos had just about every single YouTube gag that you could think of from the goat that yells like a man to the double rainbow guy to the energy drink commercial. And before you think that these gimmicks overrun his music, you're so wrong. He has come back with a few new tracks from the upcoming record as well as playing some of the older tracks.
There was one part that really struck me - "when you give it all up, you get it back". That is one of the most endearing things I've heard in a long time. In a time of cynics, hearing someone that delivers a blip of hope is so refreshing.
My only complaint is that his set wasn't long enough but hey I am a little biased now. :)
Extremely recommended. I would go as far to say that Rich Aucoin is one of my personal Top 5 Musical Acts to come out of Canada. Seriously.
