Starting in October 2012, the second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) was deployed on the Horizon Lines cargo ship Spirit for the year-long Marine ARM GPCI1 Investigation of Clouds (MAGIC) campaign, traveling between Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. The purpose of the deployment was to understand and parameterize clouds, precipitation, aerosols and radiation, and the interactions among them.

Work on the new I-70 bridge between St. Louis and St. Clair County, Illinois, continues with painting, barrier work and an overlay. These photos were from October 2013.

It's simple, but serves it's purpose of shading the kitchen from some of the afternoon sun, and it provides access to the backyard entertaining area.

Very early in construction. I have a board attached to the foundation of the shop (originally an uncovered concrete deck in and of itself. It has been roofed for over twenty years, but was only enclosed in the last twelve months. The primed sheathing awaits siding. The trench for the drainage pipe is visible since the plastic and gravel is yet to be installed.

Replaced existing deck with new composite decking. Replaced railing with vinyl railing.

In the middle of the pressure-washing project. I am surprised at the difference!

Interesting to see at least four waitresses on duty.

November 2010.

This was a "spec deck" built on a "spec home" delivered in time for a local Parade of Homes.

Taken at Lulu's Restaurant on the Gulf Coast Intercoastal Waterway near Gulf Shores, Alabama. As well as being a nice restaurant, Lulu's has a big sand pit with a couple of big sand piles for kids and a beach volley ball court, and other attractions and games for kids.

At any given time, it's not unusual for there to be as many as 7 area residents visiting my deck... for those of you who remember the photos I posted of the new born kittens just prior to my camera biting the dust. The two little one's here are from that litter... the third kitty is just fine. Just not in this shot... could they be any cuter(the one looking straight up looks so much like her grandmother, the "original" cat).

Personnel in flight deck control aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) monitor the movement and maintenance of all aircraft on the flight deck during flight operations. The skirt and rail posts are cedar, and the cap on the railing is ipe. The yard will be graded up to the deck, but until then... watch that first step, it's a doozy.

Tribunal

August 21, 2004.

Here it is, the big daddy. Currently holding the record for the longest SHIP at 12 feet 6 inches, or 487 studs, the Tribunal was a substantial investment in time and labor for me. I decided that, for it I would upload an entire set of the beautiful pictures taken by Geoff Gray, in glorious high resolution. There are descriptions of what all the rooms and areas are on the web site, although the pictures are pretty substantial too.

This set is enormous, so enjoy the browsing!

New Screen room on existing deck.

Added new deck with treated lumber

435 sq. ft. Ipe deck. Designed and installed by Heritage Deck. Every board on the beautiful deck is sanded, routered, installed and stained by our crew. A gate in the skirt allows for the homeowner to use under the deck as well as on top.

I'll wait another day and then bring the deck furniture up.
