The Stacked Deck: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

A standalone vignette, this creation will be on display at Brickworld Chicago next week. It combines many things I love about Batman the Animated Series, as well as various designs and techniques I’ve used over the years.

Here, we find many of Batman’s villains playing poker, ala 'Almost Got Im’, as well as some character relationships like that of Joker and Harley—apparently Joker is willing to risk his lovely sidekick in a game of poker! The design of the Stacked Deck was a hard one to pull off, and not just because I was so low on pieces that 50% of it is made from 1x1 dark green bricks! The curved roof is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and despite the flexibility of the pieces used, it was hard to keep them in place without the building exploding. The creation also features some designs I’ve used before, such as the ceiling fans from my Black Mask creation, and even some hanging fish hooks from way back when. For such a small creation, there are tons of details such as Croc and Bane throwing knives and Penguin standing on a box for a height advantage—oh and of course a Bat cowl hanging on the wall!

This creation is also meant to do more however; I’m currently out of the Lifelites products I desire, but luckily the company will be displaying products at Brickworld. So, once I arrive and get one last LED wire and the batteries (Which are impossible to find in store!), I’ll have one hanging, flickering light over the poker table. Anyways, enjoy online viewers, and those attending will be able to see this spectacular hive of villainy in person!

Enjoy!

i jokingly call this the winter deck, because it's the only part of my house that gets ANY sun in wintertime, the sun has moved so far south (and we're oriented N-NW mostly) -- but it's a lovely spot to watch the sunset...

A bit of fun tonight with two deck chairs I salvaged from my neighbours shed before they headed to the dump :o)

One of mikeys old boards... Worn out from all his skating and a bit of an old skool deck too... One of my favourites of the many he owns.

An enormous tumble of boulders rest at the bottom of the Niagara American Falls. Seeing people on the "Hurricane Deck" brings into scale how massive are the boulders that we see from the view across the Niagara River. Just above the Hurricane Deck is a section of the falls called the "Bridal Veil" that is separated from the rest of the falls by land diverting the river water.

Visitors following the series of decks and staircases can get as close as 20 feet to the roar an splashing of this natural wonder. Although looking fragile when viewed from a distance across the river and the Niagara Gorge, the decks are substantial and secure. They are painstakingly taken down for the winter season and rebuilt every year.

Daily Dog Challenge: Small ... the kitchen compost tin ... we have two so they can be emptied & cleaned often.

Flight Deck, one of my favorite rides now. It has the speed, the turns, the flips, the pains, but more importantly, the ADRENALINE! The ride also tries to mimic the feeling of flying an F-14 fighter jet.

The push-pull formation comprising Mark IV single-deck stock would reverse direction at Bern. A toy "Tech Deck" skateboard of my son's. The whole thing is about the size of my thumb. This was taken with the Raynox DCR-250 close up lens added to the 50mm. Very shallow DoF. Just natural light coming from the right.

An NS SD70ACC leads a westbound manifest through Chesterton, Indiana, shot from the deck of Riley's Railhouse. Although the Chicago Line these days is pretty boring power variety wise, it's undoubtedly relaxing just chilling here and watching the trains roll by. Big thanks to Paul C for letting me try out his 70-200 f/4L Canon lens.
