The Promenade Deck, deck 7 on the Sun Princess. This was the closest thing to old-fashioned cruising. I love these decks, and I spent many a day falling asleep on a deck chair with a book in my hand.
New deck is done! Here's the new west side... (note shoddy Cox cable phone service wire... that wire if the only thing keeping the west side of our house on a phone line)
1200 sq. ft. Evergrain deck with many different custom accessories. The balcony has a glass rail and finished underneath so the deck portion is usable during rain. The gazebo is set up 2 steps from the main deck and set with a fan underneath for hot nights. The kitchen area was completely designed & installed by our crew including the tile. Every step has 2 step lights along with every post having solar light caps. We resurfaced the dock and added a large gate from the main deck area to access it.
After living here for seven years we finally got a deck. It was just finished a few days ago. I don't know why we never did it, but we're glad to have it now. I need to take my sander and smooth out a few spots and get rid of the stampings in a few of the boards. Then I'll give it a few weeks to dry out before I stain it.
The size of the deck is 14' x 20".
Cedar railing on driveway retaining wall. Features 6x6 posts, metal pickets, arches at top of rail and copper post caps.

John Fountain cabin expanding the deck. The north fork of the American River can be seen below. Notice the deck footings on the rocks. Some rock had to be sledge-hammered down. John liked to slam and nail boards. Gordon, a pro, liked to check that all was level. They argued about that. When all was done, John was able to sleep more at his cabin. He'd pick up a truckload of troubled teens at the Boys Ranch and bring them up. Can't do that today!
