Not much is left of the Eloise psychiatric hospital. Only a few of the 78 buildings still exist. You can tell from the look of these that they might not exist much longer.

Well, it finally happened. We're accustomed to seeing photos of shuttered dead malls online before but it's different when it's one you grew up with.
Some of my earliest memories were of roaming with my mom on weekends in the mid-to-late 90s at Metrocenter Mall in Phoenix, Ariz. Dragging her to Suncoast Video after a ritual visit to Bath and Body Works next door. Watching the bursts of water in the water fountains. Going for the photos with the mall Santa every December. Observing the skylight fill the interior of the mall around midday. They're all memories now.
So, with that in mind, I visited the mall prior to its closing on June 30th, 2020. Seemed appropriate to document the mall's architecture, while there's still some pride left — prior to the vandals and scrapers breaking in and plunging it of cooper and other precious metals, thereby further impugning its value and reputation.
Will the mall be revitalized in the future? I don't know. But, when whole sections of the mall are unpopulated, by both tentpole brands and cars in the parking lot, and when new tenants like self-storage and popup ministries arrive, a mall's eminence is more near the end than the beginning.
And with that, a chapter of my life is about closed.

Or a fashion photographer looking for an interesting back drop for a shoot, as we discovered part way through our trip. The model didn't look too happy when she walked into the building.

This abandoned boat shack sits alongside a canal near the Columbia River. The boat is so decayed it's unusable. This is an area of waterways near Brownsmead, Or.
Found this wall in Kaufman (the next town over) and it reminded me an awful lot of the sexy red wall I always photograph in Kemp.

This is an old log just off the trail to Twin Falls in Pickens County, SC. I love all the moss on this old thing!
The roofline of our garage is starting to look downright alarming. Guess I'll have to win the lottery so I can go and rebuild it from scratch?
The door in the background is the one I used to enter-it lines up with courtyard door.So I guess if a patient came in through the courtyard they could walk straight thru to the main street! I am sure it wasn't that easy,but I am just saying...
Was not able to get out on Saturday. so was in the greenhouse and there was a few pots of decaying marigolds.
Soekarno-Hatta street has some intercity bus pools and garages. Beside handling passengers in pools, bus companies store spare parts in garages or buildings around.
